I've been trying to get laid off all year. No luck so far...
It has pretty much been verified, if you want out you just have to leave because they will not let you go if that is what you want.
I asked to be laid off and was told no that I wasn't going anywhere so I found a different job.
I'm going to work for Black Water. That's where the fun is at and a lot of money!

See there, They will not let you go unless it is on their terms. How ever depending on the time limit from when you left and a lay off you my have saved someones job, because they can use that as a reduction in work force.
I would take the layoff right now.
I did request and my manager tried but did not go through HR and upper management - maybe too late in my case. I could have saved some other fellows who got laid off instead.
I ended up quitting my job and never been happier.

It's a good thought but they tell you that they can't. I know 20 people who have including myself and we have watched as people continue to be laid off. I get the feeling that when you ask they put you on a list and you are doomed forever. Also in our cases we have connections and can start other jobs right away, and i belive that upsets them.
