Thread regarding AT&T Inc. layoffs

My job as a manager "is to keep your noses above water".

Great thing to say to your people especially when the manager who made this statement does absolutely nothing, knows nothing, takes credit for other people's work and is arrogant about it. If AT&T does not get rid of this type of leadership, they will be out of business.

It is all about the tone being set by senior leadership. The managers behave this way not only because they are clueless but also because senior leadership allows it to continue. The Ma Bell culture is over. AT&T does not have the resources or prestige it once had that they can just throw their weight around or money to solve practically any problem. AT&T is heavily in debt with $175 Billion in debt due to directtv not to mention all other aqusitions. They do not have the resources any more.

When do you change the culture of the company ? bring talented people to management, not the recycled universal managers that are constantly moving around, talk,talk/zero knowledge
