Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

"Leadership" event held at pricey resort and spa the week of 400+ layoffs

This week employees within the University had a conference at the very expensive Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort and Spa, all while over 400 people lost their jobs. That is tasteless and tacky.

Executives at UOP just don't grasp the concept of laying off long-term loyal employees and taking golden parachute compensation plans and then going out and celebrating about it and calling it a leadership conference. I am sure they could have had a much lower key less flagrant...in your face 'leadership conference'. it's like showing that you know how to handle money and if your company is going down the tubes maybe you should be on a strict budget. you need to show that you care about people and students are people and if they see UOP treating their employees like crap they may be smart enough to make the connection and determine that they will not be treated well as students by a company that doesn't treat their employees well or handle their finances responsibly. it's the same scenario that cause government shutdowns and trillions of dollars of debt for our nation. disgraceful.

Wow, how naive some of you must be. All companies, cities, municipalities and government agencies hold over the top 'conferences'. Hell, even small business mom and pop operations take vacations and try to write them off on taxes. So dont act like this is a surprise or anything different that any other university or company wouldnt do for their 'leadership'. Camden, you're a f--- tard! You routinely fall prey to these silly posts knowing damn well that UoP and Apollo aren't really operating that differently than any other company. Who are you trying to kid? This train isnt stopping any time soon. So either get on board or get the f--- out the way, because this thing may 'Rise' afterall whether ya'll like it or not.

Leadership has never cared about people. They only cared about who did what they were told. What we were told was solely based on what they thought would make them more money. Apollo's board treated UoP like an ATM and nothing more. The board and especially Greg will come back as dung beetles in their next lives.

The company no longer cares about it's employees.

They haven't cared for about 3 years now.

There was a time when they did, but they don't now.

The employees are just numbers and can be replaced.
