A cold conversation, really couldn't explain to me after getting exceeds and exceptional that I was being let go.
Lesson learned don't transfer to a new business unit during a down turn.

Exactly because in the "good times" the criteria was, if you breath, you are hired. That's cheaper than your professional expertise and likely ability to provide a coherent reason to someone been let go within the bounds of company guide. Unfortunately, the decision maker was baffled with "words" and is still trying to come out of the fog.
Just pick the pieces and move on. The cycle will change and they will be begging people to join them.
