Bargaining Report

The Regional Bargaining Committee has met with the company, on and off table, discussing proposals on RAMP, Municipal and State Leave laws, Independent Medical Examinations, ACCLS committee, Health Care Benefit Coordinators, ISP waivers, Call Sharing, Dental, and the Medical Restriction-Leave of Absence policy. The company continues to attack Tuition Assistance, even after changes made in 2012 realized substantial savings to the company.

Medical benefits and the company’s desire to increase employee contributions have been evaluated by the committee in depth. We continue to evaluate data on medical benefits in our efforts to formulate a responsible proposal.

Last week the committee rejected company proposals on Forced Transfers, Temporary Assignments to another State, and Permanent Transfer involving home relocation. We requested members share information regarding how the closing of centers and relocation will affect them, personally and financially. We thank these members for sharing this info with the Bargaining Committee.

Issues on the bargaining table are not just dollars and cents. These contractual provisions reach into the very heart of our lives and are not lost in these negotiations. We are miles ahead of where we were in June, but we are still woefully short of an agreement we could bring back to you. Your continued support of the Bargaining Team through informational pickets at the workplace and by retirees picketing Verizon Wireless locations is appreciated and effective. Please keep up the good work. If you aren’t participating, you need to. This is Everyone’s fight!

This is the same Local that a few months ago posted that "they were finalizing a deal that is fair for both sides" This local is full of Do Do.

My opinion... They are closer than they are letting on to settling. Once the contract is settled there will be an EISP offered leading to a mass exodus of older members and younger members who see no future here. Should the company need to backfill those lost members (given our NJ workload the past 6 months, I doubt they will), they are able to hire employees with the reduced benefits most of the older employees get.

This alone will eventually break the Union since the newer employees really have nothing special to fight for. I base this off the fact that a friend of mine is in a union with a tiered system and they cannot wait for the older members to leave so that they can stick it to them, just as the older members did to them when they sold them a bill of goods about how it was going to be so good. They just forgot to mention it was good for the older members.

One thing I know for sure, all those screaming to strike should be careful what you wish for. We aren't getting anything better than what we have now, and the company can easily keep up with the current NJ workload. No sense of voluntarily showing the company we are not needed, especially when we have nothing to gain.

Opposite to what Marc Reed sent out, they are further apart then where they were in January. Doesn't sound close at all.

1gis, Then what will happen? genius ! lose - lose its amazing how intelligent many are when it comes to contract negotiation strategies. you have no choice. you have a better chance with a union then negotiating for yourself.

looks like the union is close to settling, strike is just extra noise, based on the comment that there is movement, possibly concessions on the unions part. enuf already with the strike bit
