I am pretty sure that they don't care. College only teaches you how things are supposed to be in a perfect event. Your experiance is nothing but negitive news that they don't want to hear and its holding them back. Common sense tells you to never do that again if it fails, but they will contine failing until nothing is left because they belive that it will work. The problem is they just don't know when that will be.

I've been involuntary retired for over a month. NO, I'm not hurting for money. I has 33 years. If you are 30 years old 55 will be here fast even though when I was 30 years old I thought 55 was old. #2, I knew half of the knowledge I needed to do my job. (Experience).
I was told to get my keys and coat and come with me.
What I was being told with no words is I'm just a number. It's just the way it is. Younger egos will subside as you get older. It's part of life.
Hey, enjoy this time in your life while you can. Many if the 30 year olds have been layed off as well.
All this post was pointing out is, can't we at least say goodbye to the people, young and old, we worked with after 30+ years of dedicated service? Answer is no.

Believe it or not, they laid off every one in management and anyone with a lot of years and put me in charge of the camp. Personally, I love it. I don't need this job, but I still come here every day. Just like the other guy said, if you don't have your affairs in order by now, then you have issues. I owe nothing and I'm not in debt. Oh, I'm only 31.

Apparently the smart assess in these posts don't have a family that you help provide for. They must be management so it don't affect them cause none of their sorry assess are getting laid off.
It's time to put all the old hands out to pasture.
There is no good way to terminate an employee, but there are bad ways to do it. The OP's manager may have had a lot of personal grief over this termination and couldn't find the right things to say so he/she said nothing. Or - they may be an a**hole.
I've been in the oilfield for over 36 years, and when I started it was clear that if you couldn't do it you couldn't stay. No one was owed a job. My suggestions to the OP - bad feelings or not, man-up and get on with life. Whining about it does no one any good.

I have never seen hate like this from the young employees to and against the older ones at Halliburton. Prior to the new style of mis management this was a family situation, everyone took care of everyone. Now we see comments like this of, ' you got your money, get the hell out'. This is where things start to go to hell. After 38 years I was told to 'get out and don't come back' when we were ALL laid off. Enjoy retirement? No, quite impossible as we never got to retire and that is a very important thing. Of course you young people will find later in your lives, things that were going to be very important to you and it will be ripped away too, one of these days. But after all, you know everything don't you ?
I don't think he was asking for a job for life. My guess he was expecting to be treated with some dignity for 41 years of service and that obviously didn't happen ... "And don't let the door hit you on the way out". Management tells us peasants that "people are our most important resource". Everyone is just a faceless number on a pay advice.
41 years is a long time but does not entitle you to have a job for life. Enjoy retirement.
