GTE was just happy as a clam with pulse dialing and party lines. The bag phone was also pretty swell on the AMPS cellular side of GTE.

Not as profitable and terrible customer service, thank the management team.

Anyone working wireline is toast anyway. The reason that the company could not sell the BEL properties is that unlike GTE, BEL properties are not as profitable and customer service is terrible.

1ftp we know Frontier is no vz. We also know the benefits are poor compared to VZs. We also expect a sizable number of us to get laid off (yes please, before the one year guarantee ends). Can't speak for others, but I don't want to move. Frontier's 401k stock and bond choices, which I have put a lot of effort into comparing, are crap. Frontier stock hasn't made money for shareholders in decades, look it up?

Why can't everyone unhappy with vz be transitioned to frontier, and the rest of us.......party on?

1jvr you are right. fGTE people will say the merger was bad. That's obvious. Why? Bell exterminated a fGTE rodent nest. Surviving rodents dream of seeing the breath of life put back into Rodentia, aka fGTE..

The last Frintier sale, i had a friend who was included in the transfer. She's still there with benefits that fall far short of what we have at Vz. Also after the guaranteed time period, they cut her salary.

1jvr spoken like a true Bell Head. Ask any fGTEer, and they will tell you that the VZ merger (BEL acquisition) was the worst think to happen to former GTE customers, employees and shareholders.

knm you're dismayed? You're not alone. I too worked for GTE before and I'm going to frontier. I'm Joining the increasing number of calls hosted by frontier senior management. Vz people transitioning have been introducing themselves on these calls and explaining what their function is and their day to day activities.

Sheesh! Some of these former GTE/vz people haven't changed one bit since the sh--ty days of GTE. Some of the people moving over are blantly sucking up on the calls with frontier. One cretin actually said "I'm the only one who knows this application and I never take any time off. Even when on vacation I always answer my phone." Another tx mouthpiece talked so much about himself the frontier people had to stop him so others could introduce themselves. Even then he butted in, unable to resist talking about himself.

Have a bad feeling the GTE suckups never died, they just laid low and are about to return with a vengeance.

jdk I'm transitioning to Frontier and was filled with dismay when I read your comment about Frontier being similar to former GTE. Oh I hated working at GTE. Merging BA & GTE to create vz got rid of all the west coast, back stabbing, managers at GTE who worked in my building. OH THE JOY. as they herded those bilge rats to the door and then out the door. I whooped and punched the air in both relief and sheer joy. Since the end of GTE and creation of vz I have worked exclusively for east coast based, former BA, managers. Those people KNOW how to manage. Result? My personal happiness increased 10 fold and my career blossomed.

I hope Frontier are different than former GTE from a people perspective. GTE employed such rodents who became managers based on their ability to suck up. Nepotism was rampant with the managers wife, daughter and dog all employed and turning up to collect a pay check, often, that's all they did. The back stabbing was relentless. I really don't want to go back to that toxic miserable environment that existed @ the EPG group based in Thousand Oaks. I have my fingers crossed you are wrong about Frontier being like GTE!

I am so envious of the lucky dogs leaving this Sh&thole of a company, to go and work for a company that wants them, and from what i have heard respects, and treats them like human beings. I have heard nothing but Great things from the former Verizon employees now with Frontier. Best of luck you deserve it. Pray for us to join you one day.

It is. Not just for consumers, but for employees too. Frontier likes Wireline, knows the business and understands its inherent value. Frontier is kind of like a re-formed GTE - only bigger and better.
