I want to volunteer for a RIF but would love to get some extra walking away money. So are you goofballs going to strike or not? This is really getting lame. Why don't you guys and gals grow a pair and circumvent your union leadership - strike on your own. Who needs a bunch of rich, Cadillac driving puppet masters pulling, pulling YOUR strings and living off of your dues? Stand up for yourselves, and help pad my severance pay. awful attitudes, slobs, absent 20% of the time, no formal education..so who will hire you at 80k per year if you lose your job?
Look around your office, your garage wherever you hang your hat. Look how your peers dress for work, looking like slobs. Listen to the bitching and moaning about not just work but everything under the sun. Listen how the vast majority of people brag how they stick it to the company how they have found the doctor who will approve 40 paid days off per year, how they brag about getting 2 weeks paid time for nothing more than a cold.Than wonder why the big-wigs at VZ want a HUGE change. Absence rate is at 21% now. The average rate out side of your union job is 4%. Company wont pay for god-awful workers anymore. When the good workers, the ones who come to work everyday try to talk to their peers some a--hole union leader give them grief.. fall in line with the rest of us or else..you will be gone very soon

They make Billions in profit on your years of hard work Stop being bullied by a corporation that is blinded with Greed. Your job right now is looked to be outsourced as we speak. Every employee at Verizon is on the "chopping block" for Greed. But, if you stand all together, and push back, and use what ever leverage you have IN UNITY. You can stop, or at least slow down this corporate greed that is sweeping America. Without unity, fighting for your job is near impossible. Ask yourself...Why does Corporations dislike Unions? The answer...It gets in the way of them bulling you, and dismissing you for pure Greed, You as an employee without Unity is expendable. If EVERYONE at Verizon, Managers to Staff all in Unity, rose up against this current Leadership all at once, and said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! we are human beings! We are people. We are the workers that built and continue to build this company! STOP getting rid of us, STOP outsourcing us for your greed, We have families to support. Lowell McAdam and all the current executives do not have to worry about there families. The money WE earn will support them very well. So do we stand by, and let them pick us off one by one for their families greed, or do we stand together, for our very lives, and push back? What choice do we have?
If you union people think your still going to be at Verizon in 5, 10, 15 years your all crazy. The handwriting is on the wall they don't want you anymore and they will get rid of you. Screw your pension. You are management. The goal of a union member ( not the leadership) is to fend off the companies attempt to dismantle our families. YOU are on THAT side of the fence now. You are paid to slowly decimate the current work force so that they may usher in a lower paid workforce. You do it out of spite for the fact that some of the people under you are high school graduates who make more than you. And sure, maybe youll be rewarded with a director position if you do it well....
Everyone pays for Healthcare, that correct. And how many people still have pensions, not many. So how do you get the public on your side fighting for pensions?

You should have focused on the pensions - all pensions - craft and managers, instead of health care. That is exactly why you lost the public opinion. Everybody pays for health care now.
If you fight the managers you will lose in the long and short run. But if you would have fought the executives on behalf of all of the employees, then 4 - 5 jobs a days would have turned into maybe one, and a lot of reading the papers under a tree.

Union or not everything that ten company does effects us all. We need to work together and provide the best service we can because it may not be your elderly mother who is out of service but it's someone's who shouldn't be inconvenienced by this mess or any other issue. OP..........To answer your question...Yes we have no choice but to strike for our careers our livelihood our families and our dignity. Remember the CEO of this company is very well compensated in the tune of tens of millions of dollars per year, in a company that makes Billions in profit. Yet he want's to eliminate my job and reduce my salary, and benefits for his own personal greed. His salary come's through the work that i do everyday. Please take care of our customers, in my absence, they are the good people that pay the bills for the service we provide without fail and trust. They are the people that generate my salary, and yours by the way, so do a good job. Good luck, and be safe.

I really do hope that there is a stike so that you will be greatly humbled as well as learn an appreciation for what these craft folks actually do. The best part is always the first couple of days of a strike. The shellshock on cocky managers faces. At the end, while the good managers are generally pissed at what they had to experience, they also gain an appreciation for what life is like in the field. Unfortunately it appears that you are likely not bright enough to learn those lessons.

op it never ceases to amaze me how someone who works for Verizon bad mouths others who work for Verizon when they are subject to the same ( and in some cases worse ) conditions. You indicate you have been around , in the past management, non- management have done better when the union gets a good contract. You don't get it. If Verizon gives the union a sh--ty contract everyone loses.

After you're shown the door, you'll be given the option to cover strike duty for $7.00 an hour. Sounds like the Mrs. has to get back out on the street corner.
