Judging by the decisions that have been made so far, I would assume that nothing is off the table. Outsourcing the ADC would rid the family of the union issue which has always been a sore spot.

It is important to keep in mind that the ADC itself was a Follett creation. It was established and made operational in conjunction with Kiva BEFORE Amazon bought Kiva out. The company leases the robots, yes, but the actual operation continues to be a Follett affair. Robots aside it would not make sense to abandon everything else when the lease on the tech terminates.

Amazon Planning to Bring Robots In-House, Forcing Rivals including Follett to Look Elsewhere...

The ADC is from Amazon. Follett is already paying to use the technology, but I don't think it's the same one Amazon uses

Shutting down the ADC would be the dumbest move Follett would ever make. It is the only automated efficient operation in the enterprise. If any warehouses are to close they should torch woodridge or mchenry and merge those operations in the adc. With the work slowing they can easily move inventory to the ADC and clean out the million or so inventory units that are unsellable and continue to collect dust since being moved over from the River Grove warehouse back room.

"I saw him present a vision earlier this week." Can you share some of that RG vision that provides some solutions to our problems? Also were there any discussions of any other cost reductions in the near future (FY17).

Actually that is a great idea. Amazon has state of the art warehousing and it would probably be more cost effective.

RG has been on the job for 10 months already. Is there a sense of urgency to do something?

Let's not freak out too much. Tough decisions will continue for a while longer, but not because RG plans to F it up. He's committed to trying to make this company work again. But he can't take out all the issues all at once. If he waits too long though, we should reevaluate. I saw him present a vision earlier this week. Give him 3-6 more months, but he's taking some risky moves when peoples' patience is wearing thin. Get it--you need to leverage your best internal talent when many won't touch the brand (or get to stay long, like some really strong, smart people who got reduced last week). The board need not protect the family's short term gains with a Sears/Kmart/DyingBigBoxRetail mentality--there are better, far more likely ways to succeed in today's rapidly changing workspace, But this is a 2-3 year turnaround story and the clock keeps ticking down (and run through in your head how many floor 9 execs are about that far from retirement and might not give a ----rhymes with turd). If the summer gets here and leaves with no major shake up near the top, then you have to ask what's up and if you really did ultimately board the Titanic (ripe for a fire sale after all golden life boats are deployed). Follett can't "acquisition" itself out of this. Eventually even the most persistent players walk away from the poker table. The issue is destroyed culture. Fix it or else. Everywhere. Kingdoms topple, look at the current direction of American politics and power shifts to better understand where we are going..... parallel universe Follett? #AcesTrumpJacks #DuecesSometimesStink #PilageWithExtremeCaution #TimeForParadigmShift #TGIF
