Heard the Simon Malls are downsizing the Sears
Check out sears blind bat news, the guy has been keeping tabs on all stores - sears and kmarts closing since 2011. He has three stores listed closing in May. Now if kmart stores are still closing in May, do you think Sears is foing bankrupt on it's own? No way, it will all go down at the same time, dear Eddie won't bother keeping just one name going and axe the other, not with his bird brain!
I know someone who was let go last week by a DM that just started that day. Only with the company one month. 15 years with the company, and she got the phone call, with a line of customers standing around. Nobody can answer questions about paperwork, she is just referred to human resources in Ill. Let go on Friday, but the "order" was dated Monday. Layoff was effective the following day, and if they did not finish shift that day, NO severance.
This is just the first round of layoffs. They must keep some people around to close the stores when they liquidate. They are trying to cut as much cost as possible to get as much cash flow as possible in the mean time. Good luck to all.
Sorry to hear about the additional layoffs happening, especially at the store level. So many good employees who have poured their lives into this company only to be told you aren't needed anymore. I was fortunate/unfortunate enough to have been laid off last year when all visual positions were eliminated and never looked back since. Definitely get out while you can! The grass IS greener on this side.
I just got let go today. Was a softline lead in my store. Not only was my position slashed (which I found weird since the other SL kept her job, and she is useless and I had 6 years seniority), but the BC Sales Lead was slashed. Every time we get are SAR for next week scheduling, we have been told to cut it 5% to 10% of those hours. We have a grand totla of 4 managers left, and at any time only 2 cashiers staffed. No one os running these stores. Ontop of this, a town over has been so fearful that a mass exodus is in progress, where I am hearing a few of our ASMs are planning on retreating to. Its going to get to a point that our customers can easily amd freely steal without any ramifications. At this point in time, there is no hope for this company and to hell with it. Eddie is a parasite and a Ayn Rand worshipping zealot that plays into what is plaguing America. Corporate America rest assured, as you make bank you are sending others into the Den of hungry lions.
It's hard not to laugh now when we get a repair order that has a life time warranty alignment on it. Why would someone buy one given the state of the company? Sears Auto isn't even trying to keep itself alive by telling people we will be sold. There isn'tany chatter at all about us getting bought out, which leaves people to believe we will go out of business with Sears Holdings. I haven't read one article at all about a potential buyer for us,we are damaged goods. We don't feel like are going to get bought, despite what we are told.
3000 views in a day or two... WOW
I'm sorry to hear about all these layoffs. However, I'm looking to find out what managers were affected in the stores in Connecticut. My employer is actively recruiting managers with retail experience to join our team. We are a leader in the home improvement retail segment and would love to discuss further. If anyone is interested, please contact me privately at yn3wyatt@yahoo.com. Thank you!
I know, many employees, who have been effected by the lay offs, are concerned about Eddie Lampert, I assure you, Eddie, will be OK. Eddie has taken care of Eddie, very, very well. Financially, he will be just fine, and he won't loose any sleep, at all, over the layoffs that may have effected you and your family. He asks that you keep him in your prayers, that he will make a fortune off selling the properties.
Yes AP will be going through reductions today within stores. Also store leadership teams will be reducing from 1 to 5 positions depending on store today... So if you ever need a member of management good luck there won't be any! Yes a lot of stores have already been reduced by 50% for payroll and next week starts reduction in payroll in most stores across the country.
So many hours have been cut from the sears stores that I have no idea how management thinks we can cover the floor with no associates working. How are we to give great service, sell items, pas, credit, syw when you are the only associate covering the floor? I also wonder how long the shortened store hours are going to last?
They need to fire district managers. They are overpaid conference calling expenses. A big negative to the bottom line
Y, heard tomorrow will start a big wave of additional layoffs in the field and other areas...going to be a much larger wave than HE... Will let you know if more details arise
Okay reality check folks. Layoffs happened today and will continue at HE tomorrow. Some teams are staying and were told they will get more information next week. Another round of layoffs in March and April. They let go groups from all business units. This is on going wave of firings and no one is safe. Not a good way to handle this. The smart people are going to bail asap!
X you know about anything from the AP side? I believe they are going to be cutting all Full Time APAs at the very least if not eliminating the positions all together starting tomorrow morning.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting 250 were let go today
lol...I WANT them to lay me off too!
I WANT them to lay me off. No such luck.
Good luck to everyone there - sincerely. I left a couple years ago because I just didn't see a future for myself at SHC. So many good people in Hoffman. Very sad to see this happening.
I agree that X logic makes no sense at all. No one is disputing the layoffs today that is a fact. X never made a reason why sears would fire people today and give them money to leave when they could give them nothing to leave on March 17. Duh!
What kind of positions were laid off from these offices? What are they cutting down on?
How many people work at the HE facility (pre-layoff's)
Got let go first thing this AM. HR told me 10 weeks severance minimum and 1 extra week for each year above 10 with the company.
Mindy, did they at least take care of you? I am sorry to hear this has happened to you and wish you the best in the future. Sad day for Sears employees...
total count 250 people let go, according to email sent from Eddie the CEO
HE- Hoffman Estates
Home Electronics= business unit within HE
I was part of the layoffs today. My call was first thing and HR is involved and explains what your termination means. It is real.
What is HE? Home Electronics? Sorry if this is a silly question...
from my knowledge, they will not close them down, but most likely sell it off.
I'm a Sears auto employee, has anyone heard what's going to happen to them?
Lots of people at HE carrying out boxes of their personal belongings today. Beefed up security at all the entrances/exits. Hugs and tears abound.
they will be going on until 2-3, and may carryover to tomorrow
Current employee and I know there has been layoffs today in both the NY office and HE, multiple areas affected- I believe they are still in progress. Lot's of meetings in progress this afternoon.
KY, my suggestion to all Sears employees is to get out while you can....there is no hope for this company and there are many companies out there that actually care about there employees
Thanks X, I appreciate your response and sharing of what you know. Its not fun being in the dark especially when it can impact any of us. Definitely trying to stay positive and have my fingers crossed!! Hope all is well for you my friend!!
I understand KY. This is across all BU's in the company. Across the board including Home Office and HA (already 5 people let go)...pricing also was impacted. Will keep you posted, stay positive.
I am not disputing that there are or are not layoffs. I am questioning how this is known and who it will affect. I am also a current employee and trying to get a gauge of how much time we have. Of course I am being proactive to avoid this situation at all costs but finding something else takes time and interviews. At the end of the day we all have bills to pay and families to support. This is why I am looking for clarification on who it will impact, just home office? Across the board? Including field and store management? I would think we would get some inkling of news about this and I have not heard much personally.
I am agreeing with "X". Current employee and there are large layoffs happening as we speak.
LAYOFFS ARE IN EFFECT....GO AHEAD AND DONT LISTEN TO ME. YOU dont know what you are talking about. Choose to ignore, you were warned,.
