Thread regarding Follett layoffs

How is it we had to lose all these people, but yet we just bought ANOTHER company?? Classbook.com?

SS was Jos A Banks, different retailer. If you noticed all the suits all of the sudden? Discounts to those. Look at his direct reports, ass kissers are wearing the suits. Those who know what they are doing, don't. It's simple to see a suit does not equal intelligence

SS and I.T. is most definitely a problem. They hinder my ability to do my job instead of helping me. He came in promising to accomplish far more with a lower cost than the other CIO. Instead of results, what we got was "one large project, two medium projects" constraints. There is no scalability of resources with Infosys or TCS. Same old bull sh_t. I don't care if you insource, outsource, co-source, rightsource or any other I.T. doublespeak - all that matters is results.

The Corporate IT CIO knew that integrating this new acquisition with Follett systems is a key element in maximizing the return on investment for Follett.

He reached into his bag of tricks to help, and let go an entire team that would be required for integration.

It is a small bag of tricks. You saw that with his Point of Sale project.

An Infosys sales rep could fill his role perfectly.

SS is part of the 'those old group' of people from Kmart and the current IT failures

SS is not the problem, it's the other dingbats in the company those old group of people that don't know things. Long live Fmart!

You wisely forgot to divulge the kick backs SS has received from hiring from his previous company's vendor and how he is vested with these groups as well as how he has been using nepotism to remove valued workers for a less competent workforce.

The elimination of higher salaried staff and select bookstore staff, and the purchase of this company and its profit from it behind the scenes, Follett almost saves its $90 million.

Follett is wise to stick to their strengths. Avoid competition wherever possible, especially Amazon.

For all the talk of change, Follett is still looking for captive audience companies. That has been their strength. This is their fundamental flaw, too. They have no idea who their customer is. In the past, their customer has been the institution who has leased to Follett. The institution owned the audience. The students has few choices when it came to course materials. Follett failed to understand that whomever pays you is your customer.

This is the only way to grow sales. Same stores sales will never rise again.
