I'm a union field technician. Speaking for myself, I noticed that shortly after Lowell's becoming CEO, everything started to go downhill quite rapidly and most of the current inta-company hatred really began. As a union employee, not only do I want a progressive contract for our locals, but I also want wireless employees and middle management throughout the company to do well. Why don't those of us who are in the middle of things seem to realize that the better WE ALL DO, is what's best for business. Not long ago, wireline funded and took on the expenses of building wireless, then wireless reciprocated and helped fund the fios build. As a company,we are at a point in time where both sides are going to need each other more than ever. We have a strong core of employees company wide, it's those at the top who have been steering the ship in the wrong direction.

Bill Barr was right, VZ should have purchased some of their assets - AFTER - they were forced into bankruptcy. Instead not only was MCI rescued, but so were their ethically challenged a$$ kisser managment employees that ended up infecting Verizon.
Its all perspective. Last strike they hated Ivan, it seemed.
Also, if you're from MCI WorldCom, Verizon might've saved the company from bankruptcy.Vz gained a huge backbone of infrastructure, but Vz ruined the morale, reduced the severance max and sent a ton of work to union call centers resulting in mass layoffs - due to guarantees of work load for the union employees.
