An annual rite is repeating. Good luck to all and do not forget to take your Blood Pressure and Anti-Depressant meds. Cisco is laying off again, but we are all used to it so it will be OK - 2016 will be no different, a few people here, a few people there, it all adds up to thousands and the executive bonuses will be paid again. Happy layoffs...

Layoffs are definitely driven by the whims of management. If someone likes you, you are "safe." If you once pissed off someone years ago and they have input into the layoff list, better prepare yourself. After many years at Cisco as a manager, the last straw for me was being asked to rank and rate an entire department on a spreadsheet to ensure those who the SVP decided had to go were ranked the lowest. One person was specifically tagged because a VP was still mad over something that had happened years ago. When I balked at ranking people I didn't know or didn't agree with the prescribed rating for this person, I was told that I would likely be on the next list if I didn't. I saw the handwriting on the wall and quit a few months later.
Ubiquisys layoffs continue, last year 50% of staff was let go
Marketing I November, January and I hear another coming in February.
heard its up to the manager, decide if it's a contractor or an employee, but reduce by 5%.
question: was that by headcount or financial expenditure or combination of both?
How many gone in MITG ? Anyone from Tewksbury ?
Guess I retired at the right time

agree with all the comments: the people impacted is strictly at the whims of OD's, RM's... so if you're not in the inner circle, get your CV's ready. I'd heard from a buddy in New York, they canned a TSA or high SE who actually won the Chairman's Club twice, and he was their top producer too. Too bad whoever that dude was, he was the best in everything minus the brown-noser trait. I hope that dude doesn't go to our competitor,.. this is literally the sign of company going down-hill.

Layoffs at the C follow the criteria below:
Age ( 45+ you're in trouble)
Race (If you aren't the same race as your manager, have your resume ready)
Brown Nosing Proficiency
Please note that technical ability or industry talent is missing from this list.
If the above list offends you, please start expanding the org charts from Director downwards. Take a look at the criteria posted and then accept the reality of what C has become.
