Spoke to an assistant manager at the #1 profitable Kmart location in the Midwest. The current reduction in store hours is part of a new program to TEMPORARILY cut variable expenses during the after-Christmas season when sales plummet. His store's hours have been reduced to 9 am - 9 pm but will return to the unintelligible 8 am -10 pm after March 21st. So long as bankruptcy doesn't occur on March 16th - and if it does, Eddie is first in line for the proceeds from any liquidation sales - all existing stores should also see their hours return to the status quo on the 21st.
