First off, I am not union, nor am I management. I'm just a guy trying to make a living at Verizon. I don't have anyone reporting to me. If the Union were to strike, then I would have to leave my family and work about 4 hours from my home until a new contract is signed.
As far as I can see, the union lost it's bite when they decided not to strike back in August. It appears now that the company is just going to wait it out until the Union comes around. I don't see any reason for the Union to strike because as it has been noted before, what are you going to get that is better than what you have right now. And I don't see the company locking out the Union. Too much bad press. So what do you have? Stalemate.
Also, all the comments I see about the upper management being a bunch of clowns seems ridiculous. These guys seem to have the Union right where they want them while they continue to make tons of money for themselves and the investors. While this might not seem too benevolent to the employees, it certainly doesn't seem to be stupid.
