Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

2016 Outlook: More Headwinds

So 2016 top line (sales) projects to be flat compared to a shitty 2015? Profitability will go up, based on cutting more expenses (US staff). Don't worry though, 2016 severance expenses will be less than 2015 (worse packages for those chopped)!

Sinclair didn't sound like he even read his talking points before this charade. He sounded like he would have been happy to be anywhere but on that call.

Good news: The DIVIDEND remains! Keep spending down internally so we can shift that money to the leadership with their stock and options.

OK, I no longer work at Mattel, I was let go in the first round However,

putting the twins in charge of Mattel's work culture, Really ? There not evil or creepy, like others have said, but I agree they are not right the right fit for changing the culture at Mattel. They are designers their not qualified to take that on. It's kind a like when they put someone from marketing to head a design group.

they must want things to fail ?

Not the case for Evilyn Mazacco who didn't make past Toy Fair which is one more free boondoggle/dinner/shopping trip under the Barbie budget center she would have loved to take. Now for the rest of her minions like Peter Hell&Back who drove anyway many talented, hard working designers. One currently @ HasbroWest designing/developing awesome DPrincess play sets/castles.

Having the twins in charge is like having the twin girls from the shining in charge of the "culture" except their holier than thou attitude and lack of personality do nothing to improve the culture. They breed animosity.

Wonder if they do creepy twin stuff at home like yin yang ass-to-mouth play? Or one picks their nose and the other eats it? Wouldn't be surprised in the least. They are super creepy.

Will layoffs start immediately or will they begin after NYTF?

The Twins that are mentioned are two scary looking identical gay ( not bashing, just saying :) brothers who are both bald , & one dyed his beard blue. The story is one of them took credit for creating MHigh now MLow which I heard was not true. The both drive the exact model black BMW's & I saw them driving in together once in the DC parking lot & it gave me the chills. I keep thinking they came from some sort of medical experiment. These guys just creep me out because they never smile just sayn............ & they were put in charge of the "Culture" here? Really? Just think happy thoughts or it's the corn field for you.

These Twins sound like recurring characters on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Please elaborate for people not working in ES.

It was funny to hear them all talk about their success in changing the culture. Don't they know the culture is one of FEAR, mistrust, and loathing?

Everyone fears they could be laid off any day. No one trusts their managers. Everyone loathes the upper management who continue to rape the company.

These douchebags try to pump the stock, while using their cronies "On The Street" to ask just the right questions during the call. It's so fake.

I blame/hold the executives responsible just as much for their total cluelessness & (especially R Dickson as he supposedly works with them), mis management of our terrible mid management that continue to fail forward & upward. They have zero talent, can't make a decision, & are total yes men/women who don't back their direct reports play. It's all about bootlicking here. That's why the talented people who can leave, leave ASAP. Sinclair always talks about fixing the culture which is still as cancerous as ever here. Come on, two creepy bald strange twin brothers policing the halls with dyed blue beards? Is that normal? I guess it is if you'er in The Twilight Zone, be careful or you'll get wished into the corn field. That's what's still wrong here.

"we will have some restructuring expenses as we look at again, the back of the house & trying to streamline that business & be more efficient & save cost".............WTF does that mean Kevin Fake?

That means the production and distribution areas of the company are going to have layoffs and closures.

Prepare to deal with even crappier factories.

The executives of Mattel are doing exactly what they are chartered to do. Sure it's a harsh environment and difficult to stomach but if Mattel stops paying out the dividend, that would mean death to the stock price and then to the company. The management team is trying to keep the place afloat for as long as they can. This is a corporation and there is no room for a heart in the equation. It's naive for anyone to think otherwise.

I would also like to add that most who work in corporations benefit from these types of heartless actions in the form of your 401K. How do you think those investments are handled? Apple for example. How many people love their iPhone and Apple stock while workers at Foxconn (where most iPhones are made) were committing suicide? It's the way the world works right now. Most of us are wage slaves.

"we will have some restructuring expenses as we look at again, the back of the house & trying to streamline that business & be more efficient & save cost".............WTF does that mean Kevin Fake? The 3 Stooges in the 15th floor will be celebrating if MattHell can just stay flat after pooching the DPrincess license as they spin the propaganda better than the Nazis did but don't worry. The dividend will be paid through the blood money of layoffs. Not to worry, these clowns would sell their grandmothers to keep their millions. Hasbro & Lego must be laughing their heads off.

"We're particularly pleased with Barbie POS, which, despite a very competitive category, ended the year on a high note with the fourth quarter results reflecting continuing double-digit growth in North America and positive numbers in international. As expected, we also began to see overall shipping and POS trends converge with sales and POS both up by 3% in the quarter. The same held true for Barbie, up 8% and 9% POS respectively." -C. Sinclair

Except they under shipped barbie to avoid overhang at retail (see the yahoo/cnn report), to flub the POS and avoid an AI barbie avalanche at big lots!

The scummy spin continues as the folks at the top keep reinforcing their golden parachutes whilst we crash to the ground at break neck speed.

considering how we are running on a skeleton crew I cannot see NYC getting hit by any rolling layoffs, but it is the day after a financial report so tubby and pornstache should be giving us another talk (peppered by snarky one liners by the outdated designers) and hopefully we get some more ice cream to buy off our souls.

Dividends!!! Great news! I heard they're getting their own parking space in the ES parking lot, too. Super excited that sales are up and now the VPs and above can still keep their car allowances. I wouldn't want any of them spending any of their own salary on one. Fck the designers! They don't do anything anyway besides complain. They already get free coffee. What else do those unappreciative a*holes want?

Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! I can't say it any better or add anything of any consequence. Well said my friend who ever you are. Go continued DIVIDEND payoffs, fire the people who worked their asses off to get you that dividend you pieces of feces. So glad I left this f...ked up place when I did.

woohoo! more dividends! keep cutting those hard working folks so the scumbag shareholders can be appeased and get that extra 6% because that's what really matters. not the people busting their asses trying to work towards a successful outcome. say goodbye to the model makers, the seamstresses, the designers, ship it all off to Asia where we can exploit their labor and sub standard designs. let's keep giving the upper mismanagement those bonuses because we all know how hard they work slamming us in our TRACS so they can make the rolling layoffs that much easier on them. F--- YOU MATTEL. You're a shitty corporate culture based on hubris and assholery.
