Kinda late to the game Marathon.. Looking for advanced analytics director. Most companies are 5 years ahead and if someone has analytics experience they would go work for a SPORTS team and not for some cyclical industry..

There are a quite a few data analytics resources in the Marathon tower already that either have not been given proper instructions by their managers or are simply incompetent. As much as I detest IBM, I would favor IBM handling data analytics tasks over assigning to MRO employees.
In all fairness.. I saw the analytics done for the Eagleford.. The outcome was not surprising give most people have no clue how to employ analytics.. Engineers and Geoscientists are not typically statisticians.. In my opinion you might as well send a wheelbarrow full of money to IBM and ask them to help us instead of hiring a director to tell us we need to go to IBM or some other big data analytics company...
Just more smoke and mirrors. The portfolio has dwindled to next to nothing, so what will an Analytics Director analyze? Besides, aren't the executives responsible for analyzing and managing the company's basket of assets ? If they need someone like this it implies they can't prioritize capital allocation, manage costs / optimize operations, and develop an overarching strategy - which is what they get paid to do. Just like bringing in an outside consultant to recommend strategy this smells of a desire for a "fall guy" to take the blame for any strategy that fails. A bunch of incompetents deluxe. The only hope now is to eliminate ALL the fluff - people who are not directly involved in producing oil and gas - and get back to basic "blocking and tackling". Lastly, ALL costs should be on the table, and the executives should show leadership by taking some medicine along with the rank and file.
Well, if that one's taken they can apply for the Technical Innovation director position instead.
I am sure this was purely a perfunctory posting. Some friend or son of an existing employee has already been selected to get the job. And you can bet that they will know nothing about the requirements for the position. Total grab the ankles yes man.
