Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Sad Day comes again..

Its been sad for last couple of days. Mail boxes have been trickling with farewell messages from long time colleagues: Some, we know personally and some, we interacted in one of the many mailing lists (boy, the mailing lists of QC are one of the best; What a talent). Many of those saying good byes, have worked for more than a decade and closer to two decades. Some are leaving voluntarily and others are not so. But all of them have gracefully accepted it. It was sad to see one of my long term colleagues packing his pickup truck with boxes today. I thought "What might be going in his mind?".. "Does he think, he is missing something?".

On top of all this, Murthy is leaving too. Few words about him will not be off-topic here. He has been a phenomenal figure in Qualcomm. He soaks information like a sponge and he is quick in analyzing everything. No one can BS him, he understands all the technical issues very well. Yes, some said he was abrasive by their standards; but some of them were funny at times (as long as you are not at receiving end). Each personality is different and he was unique. He could mobilize the masses into action. He challenged everyone to rise an inch higher even after we said "we give up". We will miss him and I wish him all the best. Execs know what's best for company's direction and we trust they made a right choice in choosing CA . We know we are in good hands even now. The music will continue to play and we will all have to do what we have to do.

Nature brings people together for a while. In those short spans, we play vigorously and with a purpose to win; in the process we make some friends and some rivalries. Yet, we never know who stays longer and who wins. At the end, if one is confident they gave their best, that's the satisfaction that goes with them. I am confident all the colleagues( all the way until Murthy) have done the best they can for the company with utmost sincerity. As with all things in life, we have to part sometime. Time is now for some of them. May all get the best things. Au Revoir (in spirit of the Paris..)

Dear Anon 204461

No , I am not MR. Just a regular guy. BTW, its the QC culture that makes us think "I know everything".. (until, I know I don't know). That's our DNA. That's why we have so many innovations.

You are free to have your opinion, but would you care to share the reasons why you think its good riddance?

Are you Murthy? You are exhibiting the same type of "I know everything" mentality. Good you are gone.
