Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Why are there job postings so soon after layoffs? Here's the answer. I was impacted in Irvine CA, but offered a job in New Jersey. If I died and

went to hell, I'd live in New Jersey. I declined. Now there's a job posting in New Jersey. (why they didn't offer it to somebody in NJ is beyond me)

NJ is a wonderful place to live. Except the property taxes. Oooooh the property taxes. Most expensive place to live in the Union.

Most job postings are just resume mining to replace who they have now

Some times we hire so we are ready to chop the ones that we want to get rid of. It is a game. Through director knows the rif is around the corner they keep filling up the positions. So when the rif comes they have more choice of heads to choose from.

Why a "technology" company would have its HQ in dumpy New Jersey is beyond me...

From what I have seen everyone is just employed til the end of the year and can apply to anything. So I'm sure it will go to someone internal and impacted.
