Seems like non-Indian employees have become a minority in CMB IT, all the way from the VPs to members of the technical staff. I'm a Caucasian married to an ethnic spouse with two biracial children, so by no means a racist, but this is getting to be ridicules. Irving Texas is starting to look like Hyderabad. i feel like an outcast because I'm not an Indian in Verizon IT. For god sake this is America. This should be illegal.

HR give a damn? Are you serious? Haven't you figured out yet that HR is there to implement corporate policy while mitigating legal liability while improving federal diversity quotas? Where do you see yourself fitting in with those HR priorities? HR is there to grease the corporate skids in doing what it wants/needs to do, in the most cost effective way possible.
layig off white males is key to federal diversity numbers. Add that to hiring H1B and big boost to quotas. nobody cares if you can demonstrate nonraciest personality. that doesnt effect quotas. laying you off and replacing you with H1Bs does affect quotas.
why are you trying to prove you are nonraciest anyhow on here? nobody knows who you are. why do you think that should get you a pass from layoffs anyway by claiming nonaciest? do ypu think the other good people are getting let go is because they are raciest?
seems like maybe you were after a merit badge you could proudly wear to demonstrate your purity.
You need to rethink your reasons on who you are pretending to be.
Several years ago the company preached diversity like mad. Then the Credo was developed. And well, there you have it.

Very interesting article about H1B number
I am am Indian American- I agree that there is no need of H1b program in computer industry now. IT is a matured industry where.many of the local graduates are unemployed. It is an irony that H1b is being used in Civil engineering and other mature fields. Salaries of H1b VZ employees are generally more than the local employees with same experience. However the biggest beneficiary of H1b program is the consulting companies.like TCS. These companies do not spend a dime on R&D. They just keep 50% commission by hiring young grads and laying off anyone more than 15 years of experience.
