I thought it is congress that makes laws in this country. Why is president blamed for high H1b quota. Congress should reduce this to number 20K from 80k per year, and that to for those foreign student that graduate from US schools.

Embrace the corporate norms guys.

Layoff is everywhere in today's corporate environment.

If we do not want to worry about layoffs, start your own business.

If you still want to work for big company like Verizon, embrace yourself for eventual layoff in the future.

Save money and prepare!

More American jobs succumb to foreign workers. Thanks Obama. The American Dream is dead.

i was noticing that morale was just starting to recover from the RIFs last last year and earlier this year.(VES/TRMK) They even sent a new org chart, but i guess that was preparations for the coming cuts. I agree that the top management hasnt a clue, the impact of huge debt occurred for the Vodafone buyout was not properly considered. The endless reorgs allow the pathetic first tier managers, which are even worse the the execs, to remain in their positions. what a bunch of evil fricken bastards at the top!

As you can see, RIFs are not good for anyone- well, maybe the accountants. The laid off workers are in a state of panic and shock. The layoff survivors are grief-stricken to see their friends shown the door and stressed at the level of work now being piled on them. The management knows that they are next to go if they do not jump through hoops and do the bidding of the people upstairs. No quality work gets done during a RIF. They can't expect people to be uncaring machines and keep on going at 120%.

Its incredible the fiasco McAdumb has turned Verizon into. A ton of debt, lost customers, doesn't give a shit about wireline and banked everything on Wireless. Trouble is theres more competition in Wireless now. Well done Lowell. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself and crew another multimillion dollar bonus this year.

Mortal is at the lowest it's ever been, yet employees who happen not be on the riff list are expected to give the company their 120% and keep saying "change energizes us" and we operate based on "our culture of integrity, respect, performance excellence and accountability" What a joke !!!

I guess the layoffs wil never stop.I am a tech for 35 years.I have never seen anything like this. Every day is doom and gloom. They have the first level mgrs acting like crazy people. It is very degrading. Something has to change.People can not get treated like this.
