Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Management cutting employees with lowest ranking

So far, it seems like many of the layoffs in network are people that have the lowest overall ratings from their managers. A reasonable concept unless you have "leaders" with personal, targeted agendas that this RIF allows them to accomplish without the paperwork they don't want to bother with. If the full story were to ever be objectively examined they would never stand up to the scrutiny and most likely result in termination of at least a few of these "leaders". Well, the cuts are still going on, let's see if karma decides to show them the error of their ways. Assuming they are self aware enough to recognize it...

Well, unlike everyone in Lake Wobegon, Verizon's employees AREN'T all above average.

Unfortunately, sometimes productivity and job performance doesn't enter into RIF decisions. Where you ARE and WHAT you are doing sometimes rules the day.

No director that I know got laid off. I've seen more than 30 people depart today. That makes no sense.
