Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

WARN Notice

Well we just got the notice that reductions are going to happen. Two in one year. I think the only company in our peer group to have layoffs.

Well, I got a call into my managers office (out of the blue) and HR was sitting in there. I was written up for "job performance". Really?! First time EVER in 16 years and I was let go for job performance. If that was the case, shouldn't I have been fired 16 years ago!? Was about to get 5 weeks vacation. But, they can hire someone right out of college and pay them a third of what I was making. They have NO loyalty whatsoever!!! A blessing in disguise. God has a plan!!

"Anonymous186069", Noble is the only company I know where low and no performers are treated better than the people who received good reviews for their careers and then got old. Low/no performers are provided several months to improve and are taken out to lunch on their last day while old people are escorted out the door like criminals in "The Cindy Reyes-Garcia Walk of Shame."

This is just wrong in many ways!! The Rosetta people should go as they were the ones who ran their company into the ground. But, they won't be let go because their severance is much better. Rosetta people get 6 months pay & benefits plus bonus vs the lousy Noble plan. Since the Rosetta people are 25 to 30% higher in pay, it would make sense to cut them and keep the loyal Noble ones. At least give the Noble people the Rosetta severance plan. Seems like the different plans is ripe for a lawsuit

Getting cut from this company will be a blessing in disguise. There are many better options out there. Move on with your life and career... get out of the cesspool of negativity that is Noble Energy. I can't imagine anyone (WITH INDUSTRY SKILLS) who will work for them when the industry recovers.

More than 60 were let go from Rosetta - more like 80 something. And several more after the acquisition was closed.

I got cut last April and the way it all went down was not pretty. I still clearly remember the painful 'Walk of Shame'. Still wonder who that heartless person that came up with that idea. Anyway, 12 Weeks pay + any PTO balance, 6 months paid health insurance and of course the TWC checks every 2 weeks were very helpful for the 4 months I was out of a job. I hope they will be as generous this second time around. It was very depressing at times. Now, I'm working for a technology company that appreciates and values my talent. There is light at the end of the tunnel guys. Be patient and vigilant. May the odds be ever in your favor! Good Luck!

There was a notice filed in July for 300+. Pre-planning? I thought only 60 or so we're let go from Rosetta?

official notice not yet posted: http://www.twc.state.tx.us/businesses/worker-adjustment-and-retraining-notification-warn-notices#warnNotices

of course, TWC website indicates there was no notice posted with TWC for the April 7 layoff. Could people layed off then file a complaint and maybe get 60 days more pay?

What's the mood in Canonsburg and Houston? How are people being evaluated? I don't think low level managers are being consulted this time.

imho, if Putt is not let go, the company is not doing the right things and or is not smart enough to figure out he is a drain on the company and a risk that he is skimming things for his own benefit. Good Luck to the rest

At headquarters, there are enough IT, legal, financial analysis, compliance, government affairs, accounting, tax, HR, environmental, treasury, and security people for a company three or four times the size of Noble. Most employees in those groups except for HR are hard working professionals who do good work. The Executives' poor planning and their egos led to this overstaffing and anybody but the executives will pay the price.

So the cuts in April were based on those who had not drunk the GAP cool aid or run afoul of lousy managers. I can't imagine who they will cut now but NONE of Susan's ass kissers will be let go

Amazing planning -- what great leadership we have! Not Ready for Primetime Dave, little chief fisher, and our other executives should be in for BIG Bonuses next February.

The following is from the desk of Dave Stover:

We are currently in the process of finalizing our budget and associated activity levels for next year. While maintaining an eye toward the future, I expect a reduction in our capital investment in 2016 to manage within cash flow. Activity levels are anticipated to remain lower until commodity prices support increased investment.

As a result, we will be making some adjustments to the size of the organization. These workforce reductions will not be uniform across areas or disciplines. They will reflect our near term activity while preserving our long term opportunities.

I know this is a stressful time and this communication reflects my commitment to providing information in a transparent and timely manner. We will finalize and communicate organization changes around mid - November.

Oh, don't worry, our peers will layoff too. Nobody can withstand 45 dollar oil for very long. Its about to get ugly. Or, should I say, uglier.

Was it a 60 day WARN? Was there any indication of when the hammer would fall?
