I think people don't like change in general when they've been doing things a certain way forever.

Just depends where you were from. Many of us from GTE thought that Ivan seemed much smarter than Chuck Lee (not a difficult feat) but we soon found lots of fault with the way that Bell Atlantic had taken over and imposed all these stupid processes. (At the same time, I heard from BA people how GTE had taken over and imposed....) So we used to talk about the good old days pre Verizon and Ivan. Then MCI came along, and the former GTE/BA people joined ranks and talked about how messed up the MCI people were....

Believe it or not, I actually looked forward to coming into work every day. I did a fair days work for a fair days pay and went home happy. That all ended about 4-6 months after the reign of terror began by Mc@$$. Instead of sitting back and arguing union vs. nonunion, as we lose all of our hard working and valuable employees, we need to somehow focus on getting rid of the cancer, that is the current executive management group.

Instead some arrogant execs took over.
They want to make billions.
They want to destroy the unions at verizon at have said so openly and publicly.
They use any perceived or actual success to justify their behavior.
They consider themselves "elite" "entitled" and they do not care about you or your livelihood, you are or were here because at one time you provided a service that they needed. If they can find the same service or similar service for less money then you are no longer needed.
I know wireless was great before being public. Once public, it went downhill FAST.

Agreed this business in 2015. Ivan had empathy for the union and enjoyed his time in the garage. so he didn't disdain the rank and file. Macadam and Shammo view the pension and contracts the union have gained are an impediment to their wireless business aspirations which must be obliterated. A 35 year management employee
I think anyone with time would say things were much better with Ivan. This guy we have now really seems to have disdain for unions and low level managers. But I think it's just the way business is done today.
