Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Quiet on Property Sales

It's interesting that despite the GOM Property sales being completed two days ago, and all GOM Employees notified two days ago, there have been no negative, derisive, or detrimental posts here. That tells me that most if not all of the garbage that has been posted here (the garbage, not all posts, there have been some good ones) have been made by.

1) Trolls from other companies stirring it up a bit, based with a bit of factuality they gleam from other legit posts.

or

2) Recently "ex" Chevron folks, either ex company who were let go in the RAE or other ROM type events, or contractors recently separated from Chevron.

Either way stay the course, Chevron is a good company, with good people, I think we kind of lost sight for a while but keep in mind that for every Bigfoot project there was a JSM (people rather focus on negative though) and for every corrupt EE (yes all companies have them) there are hundreds if not thousands of hard working, conscientious employees, coming to work, working hard and smart, and getting the job done.

History shows that if you hedge against Chevron you will lose, history has a way of repeating itself. Hedge away, that is more opportunity for guys like me.

Hold on tight. It will be a rough one in 2016. Lots of managerial dead wood left.

There has not been a press release. What's up with that?

Hilcorp, Cox, and other small independent companies bought our GOM properties. These will turn out to be more profitable for them than they were for Chevron.

Dumber than I thought... And playing detective. You might seem intelligent among your buddies but in the real world you wouldn't be able to find a job that pays you PSG 23+ wages just for being able to kiss ass. Try your best to stay in Chevron..... Other places need real workers with intelligence. 30

That FBI comment had NO sarcasm in it. The comment had No truth to it.

Like I said before, save your ass kissing for the office as you need it more than ever (because YOU are the dead wood and still sticking to the tree through friends & family program). And FYI: this is Chevron layoff site where you'd expect to see opinions from people affected by the layoffs. If you don't want to see opinions by non-Chevron folks, stick to your GIL machine. I think that FBI comment had some sarcasm in it, which apparently your big ego prevented you from sensing. Merry Christmas!

I am kof and yes, you are correct, I was once contacted for an FBI position in my younger years, which I wisely declined. However, once again I must reiterate that I am overwhelmed at the amount of dead wood that was cut who have come out of the discarded and diseased rotten woodpile to troll this and other baited threads. Kudos to Chevron upper management for accurately and efficiently removing the dead wood which was weighing down the tree and badly needed to be surgically removed.

@kof you're FBI material. Why are you wasting your time and talent at Chevron?

I will "out" @kof as a pompous currently-employed troll. I emphasize the word, "currently", as that may change all of a sudden. If it does, come on back here with another point of view.

And what damn difference does it make whether someone posting here is an active employee or not? Everyone is entitled to an opinion. This is The Layoff website, built principally for ex-employees to opine, although all Chevron folks are welcome to participate. Keep the spirited debate and comments coming, I say.

Interesting, I believe that OPs comments had the exact effect he or she intended and definitely "outed" the last three responses before mines as non chevron or ex chevron trolls, who didn't have a clue on the topic or information until they read it here. On the comments, the business model of a chevron is fundamentally different then that of Enron, and is fundamentally identical to that of exxon, shell, bp etc. so if the dire predictions you state would come true for chevron, it would not only be the end of chevron, but the end of an industry, which btw, isn't going to happen. also reading back, OP made no judgements to the ability or lack of in those ROM and RAE employees, simply stated a fact, that there were rom and rae employees, the third response to the post before mines has pretty much even more outed hisself and identified hisself as an RAE post employee. As for selling, please do, more buy opportunity and profit you give to me by taking a loss and giving me your gain.

To the OP: remember the company that occupied 1400 Smith and 1500 Louisiana before Chevron? It too was a good company, with good people, at one time. Things change. If anyone thinks that Chevron has become too big to fail, think again. Take a hard look at the individuals who have bullied and bullsh*tted their way to the top in this company today. I wouldn't trust them to organize a piss-up in a brewery, much less steward a major oil and gas company. The real leaders have left the building, folks. Bottom line: if you still work for this farcical shell of a former giant, find another employer as soon as you can. If you own Chevron stock, dump it now, even at a loss. A year from now, after Gorgon is still not online and the company suffers yet another major environmental disaster (CDB?), the stock will be trading below the liquidation value.

OP is in lala land. For every Bigfoot there is a jsm? How about Australia? For Gorgon you have another disaster called wheatstone. I advise you (OP) to focus on kissing ass in the office and not online. You'll need your bosses' support (yes, all of them) to stay employed in 2016.

Very arrogant and self absorbed post, OP. Again, you demonstrate the trolling message board mentality that is fast becoming the Chevron Way. You do, of course, make many assumptions about people who have been let go without any thought to their actual situation, whether they were poorly treated, fell prey to politics and nepotism or simply ended up on the receiving end of bigotry and harassment. Despite your best efforts to claim otherwise, these issues do and frequently exist at Chevron and many people likely speak from experience. I'm sorry you have to come on to a board like this to spew such presumptive hatred an hope you get the help that your superiority complex so obviously needs. As for me, I wish all good luck with whatever path they have to walk.

There was an internal announcement to all GOM Employees Wednesday, GOM Employees know that, which I believe was one of the main points of the OP. I'm sure it will hit the news wires today.

The interesting thing is that there was no formal press announcement or news article about the property sales nor an internal announcement to the employees
