Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Been with VZ for 2 decades. Very few really cares about the company. Most of the people believe in 1. Throw the ball in the other court

  1. Deflect the topic 3. Make sure you are in limelight 4. Question should be answered with a question 5. Don't solve a problem, however miniscule, until it has high visibility 6. Politics are more important than benefits to the org or company 7. Always think about surviving next rif. 8. Hire college grads and use them as scape goats during rif 9. Backfill asap so you can use the heads to chop when needed. 10. Do not keep honest folks on the team, because they don't know how lie or play the games. 11. Aother synonoms for aggressive are to be able to lie, political savvy, to be able to plant firmly on the other side, to be a smart street seller with no college education, to be able to divert vendor $$ to your bosses pokets, etc.

All criticisms below are very valid, BUT $18 Billion in profits has,and will, continue to sate Wall Street's need for greed. Remember! Money doesn't get tired working, doesn't grow old and doesn't whine about health care or education or pensions. With these facts to hand who would each of us choose to invest in, people or money? To Wall Street, all our comments and criticisms on all the different subjects on this website don't amount to a "hill of beans" to quote Rick Blaine.

Firehouse management prevails. Than a nice side of ass kissing afterwards. That's what keeps the lights on.

Mgmt should punish the folks that crave for publicity before they act. Sadly VZ encouraged this kind of behaviour for decades. Finest example is our wireless CIO and some of his buddies. HR built a junk FiOS platform and got promotion as a VP. His buddies rried to fix some of the broken systems of FiOS and got into fame. It continues for decades. Even today every FiOS customer you speak to they express their heart burn on billing issues and broken promises. This company always encouraged bad behavior and awarded the people who are actually the root cause to the problems.

  1. Don't solve a problem, however miniscule, until it has high visibility....SO TRUE .......This happens in IT and VDSI IT ALL the time. That way they look like a star and get big bucks at STI time. Especially when they MAKE SURE everybody(VP and below) know they worked 15+ a day and Sun and Sat..... Purposely Forgetting to mention if they had monitored the system in the beginning the problem may not have happened BUT what fun would that be?
