Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Question- Is this legally allowed?

In Tampa, Florida one network IT director let 4 older citien managers go and kept two younger visa based managers. Can VZ be prosecuted on the age discrimination and bias toward US citizens?

Take the money and file your complaint with the EEOC, when they build up, then they will come calling on Verizon. This will catch up with them. Eventually.

Don't wonder. There are company trolls on here. Notice how the tracking id on every post was changed to a perm. Tracking number?? Remember the golden rule and treat them the way they treat you. Take anything and everything you can from them. Thats how they operate so why not. And please use another provider.

if you don't sign the papers you don't get your severance pay - no it is not legal that they have laid off so many older employees but what is happening is that we are just signing the papers instead of fighting it....and that is what they hoped for...good luck they are making a bad move and it is painful to those of us that actually BUILT this business and are being tossed aside but whatever.....Karma will take care of them

People just have to take the first step in standing up for themselves . They have to take action first , instead of just ranting about the unfairness. This step would be the minimimum you would do to protect your own interest.

The EEOC has filed and won many discrimination suits. It can't hurt to file a claim. Strength comes in numbers.

I like the USPS, the military and, begrudgingly, have to admit the even DMV has become a smoothly operating outfit too. You paint with a wide brush 1ewZ. Let me guess, you're a low information person spoon-fed by conservative talk radio?

EEOC is useless just like any other government entity

Don't sweat it. The Network IT Director may be on the 1Q 2016 RIF list. He/Se may be replaced with an VDSI IT Director who will do same job for much less money and probably will be more highly educated

Filing A Charge of Discrimination with EEOC. They will answer your question legally. They will notify you if you have a claim. http://www.eeoc.gov/employees/charge.cfm
