Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Wireline and Wireless finally merging.

We've heard the across the board cut rumors of 6%, 10%, 20%, which would lead one to think, no one has a clue. The patterns and actions I've come to recognize prior to the last few LARGE cuts, 20%, are not occurring at this time, which could mean the rumored numbers will only be in pockets, but those pockets could be decimated. The merge of the two entities is LONG overdue, if it happens, the UNION can take a big sigh of relief because it means they're not planning on selling the remaining wireline assets. If they don't merge the two on Nov 5th, then the union can rest assured they're going to be working for someone other than VZ within 3 years. ---With a merge, you can expect redundant positions to be eliminated that's a fact, Finance, HR, managers, directors, and the like; worker bees tend to fair better and get shuttled from group to group based on skill sets, unless they're unlucky enough to be in a group that's within a disruptive tech field. However this turns out, "I Was Looking For A Job When I Found This One." Hopefully everyone has their resumes up to date and are ready to hit the ground running if they find the need, this economy is not too bad to be looking for a job and if you live in the right part of the country you could find yourself better off than when you started.

Jobs are plentiful. Walmart, Kohls and all stores are hiring for the Holiday's. You can worry about next year next year.

No need to change the title, we all know that all that's posted here is rumors, nobody is claiming they know something for sure, even if they did it would be foolish to trust them because you do not even know who they are

@Anonymous183677 - I liked your post, it was measured and even keeled. On "this economy is not too bad to be looking for a job" - this is only partial true, certain skills are in demand, and if you are over 50 it'll be hard for you regardless of how the economy is doing. With this being said, since the economy is OK-ish, it's better (but not good) if compared with 2009 when it was borderline impossible to find jobs in Telecom.

"this economy is not too bad to be looking for a job" ???? 25 million Americans out of work. Thousands of IT jobs outsourced to India , VZ Wireless is feeling the heat of competition. ....If you are over 45-50 yrs old, forget it ... What are you smoking ?
