Class Action Lawsuit - Wrongful Termination

Do you think that employees might be able to start a class action lawsuit due to layoffs that have been going on at UOP for a while. I am not sure if the right critera for layoffs have been used, and I suspect there are multiple groups that are targeted that might have good reasons to start a class action lawsuit. I am sure that there is ton of companies that specialize in wrongful termination and discrimination lawsuits that would be happy to jump onto this opportunity, attorneys and lawyers love this stuff and for us workers it would not hurt to pursue what is right from the legal standpoint

The only wrong criteria is if they fired you based on a protected class (gender, age, etc.). They can legally do layoffs on any other criteria that is not protected. I would just take the severance and move on.

UOP goes through their legal team to determine the criteria. A class action lawsuit won't stick. Don't u think they have thought about this and taken steps to protect themselves? And if u do take the severance you cannot sue. Layoffs are different than getting fired... Wrongful termination is for when u get fired not laid off

Wrongful termination? What's that? Isn't all employment 'at will'. Why do you need an attorney?

You cannot participate in a lawsuit if you have taken severance.

Same here, if you have a claim sue them. The company is going under, so there may be no money to benefit from. You need to be quick here. Attorneys love class action suits as they have huge plaintiff pools and damages are super huge so that's a lot of money for them. Also, why would you sue a company, especially through a class action suit on wrongful termination, that is going under

Class action lawsuits only benefit the lawyers, if you have a claim, go it alone
