I thought we were to receive a package with information about COBRA, severance etc plus documents to sign. I have contacted my HRBP who has not bothered to respond to emails or phone calls, and also called the 1-888 call HR line who told me to talk to my HRBP. The HR website does not have the information I need. What is the best way to get a response from these folks? Thank you.

I've been calling my HRBP every day for a over a week, leaving voicemails. Good luck getting a return phone call in Houston.
Have your attorney send a certified letter of request to both your HRBP and their bosses boss. Make sure you send to individuals by name. It will cost you a couple bills but you will get a reply.
My termination date is not until October 16th and I received my packet from HR 2 days after getting the phone call about being laid off. The only thing in there for you to sign is direct deposit slip for your final check but there is a lot of information about all the options available to you in the packet as well as information on how to calculate your severance. If you have an October termination date and haven't received this initial packet yet I would talk to HR ASAP to get to the bottom of why you haven't. Maybe your address is incorrect in the system. Hope this response helps.
You should have gotten an initial packet with high-level information right when you left (or a few days later via mail). You will get another packet of paperwork with papers to sign in October based on your final day on payroll. You haven't gotten it yet because these 60 days count as you still being on payroll. That second packet of paperwork is what initiates the severance payment.
You will not get anything until after you termination date. The paperwork is wrong. It took 10 calls to 1800 TALK TO HR to figure this out and I finally got a hold of supervisor who confirmed it. I had 4 different stories from HR.
Thank you all for your responses. My "scheduled layoff date" is in October, but I will contact my HRBP again, since I have many unanswered questions and there may be documents I need to see or sign. And now I will copy the supervisor as well!
My understanding is that it depends on termination date. I have not received any paperwork to sign. My official termination date has not passed effective this date. The termination paperwork indicates that you will receive your official "paperwork" to sign your release within 5 days of your official termination date. Lots of verbiage - bottom line you should have your release papers within 5 days of your official paperwork. The other poster may have had an earlier termination date. Your termination date is all that matters. I suspect there will be many more terminations which will follow the same process. Best to you and yours.
My HR rep was in Covington, LA and has at least returned phone calls to him and made sure all my questions were answered.
I received my packet from HR 2 days after being told I was going to be laid off in October. You should have definitely have gotten something by now.
CC your HRBPs supervisor, it might help.
