I have a feeling benefits was too busy from 2009 until last year trying to figure out how to "game" ObamaCare to update the severance/layoff procedure.

144661: Yeah, that's the one. But it's vague. To understand what it really means, you need to know what legal told these guys in the lecture that went with the pwer point! ; D

The old HR presentation from 2009 that Annonymous 144611 mentioned doesn't look like a leaked document. It is just one of those propaganda materials that HR's Employee Relations VP puts out to place a pretty face on the rotten culture of the company for outsiders to see.

Are you talking about a new HR leak?

There is a leaked HR PowerPoint presentation at the following URL, but it is very old (from 2009):

There is no leak and there is no spoon

Maybe it was "leaked" on purpose to help encourage passive compliance. Don't cause trouble or get a PIP and lose your big check.

According to the powerpoint available on the internet--thnks to internal leaks--HR takes input from several sources, including your reviews, and other info in your file from the manager/director weasels, and puts together a list of people they believe are "expendable." Then legal reviews the list, and attempts to determine which ones will put up a fight, and which ones will go quietly. The people who will go quietly get GTFO packages. The people who show any sign of potential resistance will probably be retained, but PIP'd w/ no package. The reactions of employees on internet sites like Glassdoor and thelayoff.com have been more intense than expected. In other words, the legal department expected all of the engineering "nerds" not to have any sense of defensive aggression. (Apparently, you fooled them.) The word "pushback" is key, in this context. If you have ever stood up to a manager or director, on ANYTHING, even if it was just to point out a better approach to dealing with a problem, this could possibly be interpreted as an issue that will count against you--regardless of how much it ultimately benefited the company. Sorry guys--don't shoot the messenger.

It hasn't been announced yet, and it has been rumored that it has been taking longer than expected to get approvals from BUs, HR and Legal. Expect the list to land in the third or fourth week of September.
