Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Wireline / Backbone / FiOS services have become Utilities

I think their problem is the wireline / backbone / fios services have become Utilities, translates to very low margins. As a pure wireless entity like T-Mobile, being able to shop around for the best cost Utility is an advantage, a position Verizon would love to be in but unfortunately they own and are liable for a huge amount of preexisting infrastructure, infrastructure they can't easily, perhaps legally, unload. They're trying to sell a legacy telephone company in the era of smartphones. Who in their right mind would buy it

The network that was taken over by Vodafone/bell Atlantic was somewhat "free" . Even now on the daily workload we place new "wireless" fiber at the cost of fios. We are told to " cross charge " our time so that the cost goes to fios not Verizon wireless. I wonder did the SEC reveals learn anything from ENRON?
