Did you know that Nebraska Book Company actually paid another company to come up with the name "Neebo?". I'm sure it took countless hours of deliberation and meetings to come up with the name. They wanted a new that was catchy and fresh...they ultimately wanted to have a website that would compete with Chegg. Noble idea. With hundreds of stores around the country, they had to pick a "neutral" color. After all, you can't have your company colors being maize and blue and sporting them in the Ohio State bookstore. So naturally bright lime green was the choice.
We also must select a mascot. That mascot was "Neebo Ned". I picture Neebo Ned being a bright green Bert or Elmo. ("Neebo Ned's" facebook page is actually still around, but hasn't been touched in years) You will probably be surprised like we were that Neebo Ned never really caught on.
So with the new name, we should change all the names of the stores who were struggling or average to just plain "Neebo"...because naturally everyone should know what Neebo is. or Ned's Bookstore powered by Neebo. Bill's Bookstore powered by Neebo. L&M Bookstore to Neebo. ...you get the picture. Why would you want to keep the name of a business that has 10 to 50 years of recognition when you can change the name of it to Neebo? All of the marketing was changed to Neebo. Bags, billboards, radio spots, etc etc Neebo Neebo. Only one problem....people didn't know what the hell Neebo was. They didn't change the names of the store, just the name on the marketing material. If I could name 3 downfalls of Neebo, marketing or lack there of would be one of them.
