Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Venting: our benefits

$6k-$7k deductible? Are you kidding me? United health care is awful under our plan. And the vote is a nice way of saying that "we have a collect voice" but it keeps getting worse each year. Why would anyone want to work for whole foods right now? Benefits suck, you're going in part time, 0 incentive, and the pay isn't competitive anymore.

One of our cashiers quit to go work for Krogers--she could make more money, thought she had better benefits. A year later, she came back. Her initial pay per hour had been better, but... they only gave benefits to 'full time' workers. Her boss scheduled her for 39 hours every week--not 'full time', so no benefits. And she had to pay union dues. She didn't like the atmosphere, was glad to be back.

does kroger claim to have "core values and quality standards"??? or to care about team member happiness and excellence??but at least kroger has some sort of union so shitty regional or global layoffs would have to be bargained..

For this reason I don't go to the doctor unless I'm almost dead.

The benefits are on par with Kroger.

those little "collective voice" votes are always not about what you gain but what you lose as an team member.. i remember i asked one time at a class our pbs held about the vote on this plan..i wondered how much in the hole was the insurance under their numbers..she couldnt answer..i wanted to know if the cost was could be on a scale to "stores in development",type of price ratio..and then see if we could vote on not building the storee or find some other money to cut to shore up the insurance..no answer..and just so y'all know that insurance isnt UHC but wholefood insurance ADMINISTERED by uhc..we dont have that skill yet..but that is another reason why that insurance got worse and worse over the years with the deductibles and 6k copay..the benefits vote allow the higher ups to wash their hands of the evil deeds.they then can say"well the team members voted on this....."

I agree it's not very good health coverage. I will say this, it's available in less than a year for new hires, and that is unusual for many retail jobs. So in that sense, it's better than some-but still not great coverage.

When I worked there I never understood why people thought Whole Foods had good benefits. It cost and arm and a leg to use it. Good insurance is when you just have a co pay and they cover all medicines.
