We used to use staples for all our business needs. Most items arrived the next day with free delivery with competitive prices. Sometimes would pay a bit more, but was still cheaper than sending an employee to a local store for supplies. All that has changed this year. Paper is cheaper at sams, waayyy cheaper. Amazon is cheaper than staples for everything else. Example: purchased lable maker tape, 2 rolls 18.00. Staples? One roll 18.00. Delivery is usually 2 days from Amazon. Staples delivery is whenever they felt like it.
Note: I am responsible for staples demise. We use a certain size box for shipping. Usually only two or three per week. Discovered a few years ago that we received free staples shipping and that staples sent us stuff in the same size box whatever we ordered. The same size box was $2.50 at the store. So we ordered .67 paper clips, had them delivered for free, and had a box. Have a lifetime supply of paper clips but figured we saved $520.00 not including employee time. Not the same company it was.
