Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

GOMBU gameplan unveiled.

Divest 10s of billions worth of shelf and deepwater assets. Layoff around 50% of combined field and office personnel. And do another round of performance cuts. Oops I meant resource assessment exercise. But thanks. You met and exceeded every OE metric thru 3Q.

736- those statements are not mutually exclusive.... A lot of good people will be let go, Mike may be one of them. It's not a fun time to be a manager either.

For those of you that haven't been through tough times in the oilfield, there are times when a manager, after finishing the dirty work of informing some direct reports that they no longer have a job, get informed themselves that they too no longer have a job. Only difference Is the size of the severance.

Hey ROJ, are you bi-polar?? Why do you say in this thread; "Mike like all the managers across Chevron is doing the best in these difficult times..." Then you turn around just 3 posts later to say; "Nah, Mike ain't gonna make it either"? You just lost credibility in this site, pal. Go post somewhere else.

"do as I say and not as I do"...........Isn't that the Covington office slogan?

339 ... stop attacking people and have a reasonable and factual conversation ..... personal attacks are useless and very immature ... are you not accusing others at Chevron of behaving the same way? Then start demonstrating how the behavior should ... you are another one of those "do as I say and not as I do" ...

Nah, Mike ain't gonna make it either. Someone from San Ramon or elsewhere will be looking for his spot. You guys just don't understand. Managers will be biting the dust just like everyone else. Those who have retained their technical skills may be able to bump down. For others, it's been so long since they did any real work that they will have to hit the road as well. You will be surprised to see what happens. Been through 14 of These things over the past 35 plus years.

Lies.... Management will not save anyone but themselves. They are probably putting the package together with Project Beta right now. Part of the protocol is to say, "No we aren't going to sell the shelf".

You mean Mike, like all the other managers across Chevron, are doing the best they can in these difficult times to save their own asses first.

Mike, like all the other managers across Chevron, is doing the best he can in these difficult times. No manager or supervisor wants to have people laid off. Unfortunately, the oil business is a cyclical business and when it's good, it's good. When it's not, there is pain. Hopefully the corporation will speed this up and get it over with so those remaining can get back to work and try to get us back on track. This too we shall overcome.

It is not arrogance ... it is an outsider pretending to be an insider ... all this talk about trolls, HR, etc. is intended to hide this fact ...

Anonymous170227, you are so right. I meant to say Mike Illanne (Mike Worth is VP of Downstream, aka Refining). The rest of my post still stands. Thanks for correcting me, but it wasn't by ignorance, I assure you. - Anonymous169964. BTW, can I interest you in some land I have for sale?

Wake up! Our management, including Mike Worth is as transparent as a fart in the wind. The day he hits you with the truth, many will be caught like a deer in the headlights. Don't give that much confidence to our leadership, else maybe I can interest you in some swamp land I would like to sell in Louisiana.

I have confidence in our leadership to make the right decision. (Keeping the shelf). They are simply being transparent, letting us know what's Being considered. Mike said no decisions have been made yet and I believe him.

Anonymous169700, that's one hell of a rant. Calm down and take your meds. If you have a job and haven't been told anything yet, then count your blessings. Many people already got their walking papers, like me. I have no choice but to keep moving forward. So calm down, please.

Laughing my ass off... who knows what the corporate CIP multiplier will be. I suggest we set up a "Multiplier Pool" and charge $10 a square. Perhaps the pool will payout more than the CIP this year.

That's a piss-poor rating. I would say it would be closer to 0.60.

CIP corporate multiplier probably around 0.2? Some bonus that will be.

The CIP bonus, if anyone thinks we will even get one for 2015 performance, will be received by all employees who remain on staff. Those who got ROM'ed or RAE'ed in 2015 will receive a prorated portion of the CIP depending on their separation date.

You missed the CIP will not be affected by the downsizing for those that remain on staff
