Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

How much money could be saved by eliminating nonsensical, yet required store team meetings? Or extra forced labor before VPs walk a store?

I will be the first to agree that there's fat to trim, but if we're in such dire straits why do we pay the entire staff to come in on off days and get paid to yawn and clap for hour+ meetings where nothing new is shared or learned. Why are we in panic mode with forced long hours every time someone thinks a VP might visit the store, and why do we celebrate minuscule product launches with tshirts and tons of print material that never even gets used? There are so many financial wastes, yet the most knowledgeable and loyal are shown the door.

If your team leader is good, the team won't need to go all out to prep for visit. Normal routine will be good enough. If your TL is stellar, she won't care if regional is visiting. You should be up to standard at all times. If not happening, then you've pinpointed one of the major reasons company is in need of restructuring.

make sense because those printed materials don't get insurance don't get Medicare don't get maternity leave or paternity leave don't need Benny Cards of are given PTOso why worry about that stuff when its team members that get paid a good amount because they've been with the company for years we can just hire somebody for 10 bucks and have him do with the guy I was getting paid 18 to do
