Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples Delivery Driver's

Thank you to all the current and former staples drivers for their many years of hard work and dedication, despite a seemingly vision less corporate structure. I'm sure the extreme lack of leadership for many years on the Director and Manager level has made it very difficult on you. Let me say to you what Staples won't..... We Have Failed You!

Bitchin*'s fine, but what you really should be doing is this - WRITE YOUR CONGRESSPERSON - tell 'em that the "top dogs'" salaries should be slashed to save the "peons'" jobs. I'm making it easy for ya - here's the numbers, now get to dialing!!!

Are you really going to let this bunch of greedy people get away with this? Call & complain!!!!!!!!!

I am a former CE driver with over 17 years with the last 5 or so under the Staples name, worst company I have ever worked for, I got smart as of the latest threat of closing my location then constantly changing the plan, I took my 401k rolling it into a IRA and found another job better pay but got all my vacation, Sick and float used up and QUIT on them without notice f*** that company

Sorry u lost your $12-$13hr MH position but the majority of us drivers had 15 -20yrs and we're making $20hr working 50hrs a week while the Supervisor's sat on there asses reading pointless emails and tracking how many stops we had left then leaving every day in 8hrs.So I'm sure Anon 171849 our views and levels of frustration will be quite different.

i was hired in october 2014 for the warehouse in sharon, mass for a material handling position. 6 months later everyone in the warehouse is laid off. just one more example of bad decision making. it seems like they just dont care if the company goes under because those higher up have already cashed in. i was privy to several of those bullshit meetings where they give you breakfast and make you feel like theyre on your side. i thought i had landed a good job with a reputable company. something i could look forward to giving my time and dedication to, but i guess that was a pipe dream.... getting a real job yep just a pipe dream.. and just a footnote here.. ironically, those "dike managers" referred to by someone in a post above (the floor lead in my case) was the hardest working person in the building , and got laid off as well. so before you take out your anger for stupid decision making on a corporate level on a social minority, you should think about who is truly responsible. and if youre just gonna stick with "theyre all dikes" then you lose at life.

Anon 170016.... not sure what you are referring to there about technical issues and management..... I thought most of the technical issues were always well taken care of with the limited resources they had.... they weren't allowed to buy new equipment... they were handcuffed just like the drivers.. they did the best they could with the crap they were given

If they real cared about the SDO and FC delivery teams they would have bonuses for all . They would have a CHRISTMAS PARTY for ALL. They would give a real CHRISTMAS bonuses not a 25 dollar staples card.

It wasn't only SDO Management that would travel out to sites just because they could. In other teams Management would do the same. There were issues where a technical person would need to be onsite for one reason or another, but instead a manager would go as it was "their" area. Stuff wouldn't get done and the workers would get the short end of the stick. The mentality of Staples needs to change. Just because you are a Manager doesn't mean you are above everybody else. You should lead and not do the dog and pony shows because you have a fricking budget and can travel and the super manager and globe trotter you "deserve" nope, spend the money wisely, or better yet don't spend it at all and let the people work!

Who's idea was it to hire a bunch of Dykes to run these SDO'S anyway?

Yeah and those RVPs, like a certain someone in Detroit, would do nothing but toe the company line, swallow his koolaid, write notes, and claim he would look into your concerns and report back. like that happened.

To all the drivers let's also never forget our useless over paid regional and district managers that never did anything for any of the drivers. They would arrive in town stay overnight in a hotel bring us breakfast in the morning have their special little meetings in the morning and never had anything useful to talk about. That is just another example of how the company blew the budget. We also can't forget a few other assholes in the company that did shit and that would be the director of security and the bozo that used to visit the SDO locations in charge of OSHA safety.

I agree with all these comments. I find the pay grade for SDO supervisors was a joke. I think they were overpaid for what little work they did. I think the employees of the HR department where the most incompetent group a bunch of workers that I have are met in my life. They were as incompetent as those dumbasses that used to do the routing out of Colorado.

By all means let's not forget to give honorable mentions to all the Useless SDO supervisors that never had there drivers backs and only looked out for themselves. Don't worry HR we haven't forgot about the total lack of competence that spewed from your dept for oh so many years now.

Even the simplest of minds (which staples has no lack of) should be able to realize the negative effects these haphazard decisions will have in the long term. Not only have you failed your associates you've failed your stockholders too.
