Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Mattel margins are high based on what is required by Overhead. What are you all willing to give up to reduce the overhead?

replace PLM for a simpler system that is intuitive and that actually works. get rid of the cafeteria or bring in independent food chains or have the parking lot open for food trucks. make everyone fly economy plus overseas, even VPs and above. why isn't the entire roof of the HTC solar?

So True exhausted. Policing is not what an HR rep should be doing. She is a dinosaur that has long outlived her usefulness (if she ever had any) yet unlike every other over 50 professional at mattel has not been pushed out the door yet. Talk about injustice in a corporate setting.

She is a relic from the past and it is shocking that she's still around. What value does she add? How is she looking to attract and retain talent? We need an HR strategist in place, not a policewoman. Saying no to everything isn't progressive!

first they call themselves Nads and then they name the show G-Hoes... i get that its the global hand job but seriously who's in charge of the acronyms here? asleep at the wheel here. but seriously why is GHOs different from MHOs? aren't they all Hoes? i mean why can't it just be one big Hoe down once? this is why we waste so much time. we love to present to ourselves... sigh

I shall continue to call it G-HOE as it's a SNAFU aka situation normal all FU anyways. Super surprised that there hasn't been an email officially sent out forbidding employees from logging on to this site but who's stupid enough to log in on a Mattel computer unless you're a VP or above which are above the law. BTW, it doesn't really matter geographically where Marketing is located as they have & will continue to run the company. Get used to it.Not saying it right, just say'n...........

Just had a brainstorm with myself. Let's start one called WTF when our upper mismanagement asks for a stupid last minute makes no sense subjective change. Implement WTF in PLM before ICR after CA to EA ) We have Stockdown to thank for his brilliant mismanagement of NAD vs. GBT which when introduced everybody said, "WTF"?...........I know for a fact that Hasbro is laughing their profit margins off as they read this site on there way to the bank. They are probably saying, WTF?

TRACS, CAPS, MATPICS, PLM, EVP, SVP, VP, NAD, DIG, CMT, GBT, PGP, etc....Everyone is so used to using these acronyms, they don't even know what they mean anymore. Just get rid off, or at the very least trim down, all these time & money wasting acronyms. Once something in this company is given a stupid acronym, it's rendered useless. On another note, the DESIGN CENTER needs to be the design center again. Once it became the "HTC", marketing took full control of design decisions Go back to the tower. Marketing should market, Design should design (it's a no brainer, but obviously the no-brains can't figure this out). Let the creatives in the DESIGN CENTER design and create. Call it the "Handler Design Center" for all I care...and don't call it "the HDC". Acronyms: the downfall of Mattel.

yes, dump this NAD bs... all they know how to do is to kiss retailers asses and ask for last minute changes. if it isn't a die-cast car or a fashion doll they're so confused on how to sell it. basically they are mainly middle men from the retailers to the GBT. why do they exist??? everyone has to then explain to all of them what each brand is doing each sell in season which is a colossal waste of time.

Get leaders in who know what they are doing. Give teams clear direction on goals and expectations with enough time to achieve. Don't let anyone under director make last minute changes in direction unless everyone agrees. This alone will eliminate churn and the excess cost of changing a product 2-3 times. But until they change leadership in Barbie and the culture in that brand , not going to happen. Blow up the NAD CMT and GBT and go back to one marketing group - this is a big cost, not only from the overhead but from each group not talking to each other.

Do all of the above & more & fire 3/4 of the existing EVP, SVP, VP. & Directors for sure as they are the root of our problem. Remember, MattHell doesn't own the DC, it is leased so it would be up to the who ever owns it to install solar energy. If you made VP& above fly economy half of them would stop flying as they do nothing at these trips but shop & dine anyway . Eliminate sending Marketing idiots to South America to shoot TV commercials/party for 2 weeks. The money has already been burned for PLM but just dropping it would save designers both here in ES & HK useless man hours if inputting useless data. Revamp/simplify that stupid TRACS/MATPICS that wastes almost as much time as People Leaving MattHell.These are all valid points that will never be implemented because it actually makes sense.
