It's winers like you all that put us in this position in the first place. Since when do you need positions like bakery receivers, concierges, or assistant bulk buyers. When you have a store with 40 plus job types, what do you expect?

For all of you claiming a blanket statement that these positions were useless, IF that were true, the team members did not create these positions. Whoever decided to create them should be the ones to pay for it (literally and figuratively). Secondly, everyone in these positions are not deserving of a layoff. Each case should have been evaluated individually instead of making blanket cuts. But then again, that's what write-ups, job dialogues, and corrective actions are for. And who's job is it to accurately hire and evaluate heir TMs? ATLs, Team Leaders, and upper leadership. And guess which positions didn't get the ax? BINGO.
If your A/STL is watching a camera all day, they should be fired too.
True, but included in that "fat" are those A/STLs that are too busy playing detective watching cameras all day for shoplifters, all the while remaining oblivious to global/regional initiatives that bring in much more $$$ than what a couple of degenerates shoplift.
This story is not just about reapplying for jobs. It's about a way of doing business that does not value or invest in its workforce while benefiting from an "anti-corporate" image. It's about combining departments and positions so that employees will have to do the jobs of two or three people without an increase in compensation. It's about reducing hours, wages and benefits overall so that people who want to work full-time can no longer support their families.

As if the company couldn't dig themselves into a deeper more embarrassing hole (or should I say whole). That's the whole story. Right about now I feel like purchasing some $18.99 s'mores for the bonfire, and really getting behind the product.

This is an American success story. For too long the lazy and weak have mooched off the system in this country. Kudos to Whole Foods for taking a stand.

I come from a small store that is under staffed and does not have positions like those mentioned and I still believe we will have quite a few people cut.
I guess store leadership has found this page and will be hate adding team members telling them to be thankful they had it good for so long and to shut up and take it. Sorry - team members have had enough of the abuse. Enjoy the PR disaster you've created. The next few days in the media will show you whose side the consumer is on. Hint: it won't be Whole Foods' side.
