Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

What is happening with the "Merger"? In the news it could happen, or it couldn't and now the EU is taking a look.

I bled Staples Red for so many years. I was looking at staying around for a lot longer than I did, but in the end my view of Staples and its direction soured over the last year. Management was getting promotions and underlings, the hardworking backbone of the "team" kept on getting the shaft! How can you justify a manager getting promoted when it appears that his/her team is so incompetent that they are not able to warrant any promotions? This is a disservice that the "team" did for its employees! They just need to be Staples and not trying to be something else they aren't, they are destroying the culture inside the company, everybody is walking on pins and needles, but most of all they need to stop the promotions on just because you are manager. It is almost as bad as when Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize for having done nothing!

Ok, lets talk small ball. The ZB's lower than.80! Really! REALLY! Does anyone with an operating brain cell NOT know how to do this? Any IS/IA worth half their salt made this happen ALL the time. NOW let us jump to 30,000 feet and see the big picture.

RETAIL BRICK AND MORTAR IS O V E R ! Stop wasting your time trying or crying over it. Hell, Walmart is starting to struggle against the internet!.

It's time to find a niche retailer to work for or find a new skill. Quit on your terms not theirs, or hang in and take the severance, but stop crying about it.

@Anonymous162237 - if you think Staples culture is bad, you really missed the show at OD. Don't worry about getting a degree or experience, just sex your way up the ladder. Top management getting duis, racist management going up the ladder, friends getting friends jobs with absolutely no experience, management fraternization with the rank & file employees for your own personal needs., sex in the parking garage, the list goes on.

I have seen this over and over. The company has changed course 180 degrees in the last 6 years. Right now the only thing that is important is Ron getting his full bonus. To get there the ZB walks must be lower than .8, the truck must be done in 24 hrs, and payroll must be 35 hrs below budget. Even if no one walks into your store and buys anything, by meeting these metrics Ron will get his bonus.
