That's always good karma. I worked for a small producers years back and one of the guys retired mid 50's single and saved. He said it was time for a guy with a family to do his job. He hit the lottery the week he retired! He took his friends from work to Hawaii. Karma can be a king.

Congrats on the payday. I'm trying to do the same as I was planning on retiring next year anyway. Got 1 rejection on a promotion now just 3 more posts to go and I will leave my job open to someone who needs it more than I. Cheers!

I hope I do to and thanks for the good wishes. I am a little to old to run rigs but I will do what I got to do. And a cup of humility is always good for the soul! I will be doing what I did right out of college a while ago. Funny thing is I consider it at least honorable work, I could not stomach the Chevron Way any longer!

Good luck to you who got that job offer last week. I hope you can get the double dip from Chevron and get to greener pastures. Good luck and be sure not to be put onto the new payroll before you officially sign your Chevron severance papers.

Don't rub it in friend. Good for you and I can only imagine the angst for all the older employees who have seen this place blow up. If you want to stay in oil and gas you better understand the work. Lets say you are land based. You better understand pad construction, drilling, fracing and operations. To the point of being able to lets say run a rig. If you can you can get a job. I got an offer 1 week ago. Taking vacation and hoping to get canned and double dip. But as bad as it is they are still drilling in the field.

My job searching is finally over, my friend. I'm happy to say that I just retired in the year I planned to call it quits. Thanks to this layoff period, I was layed off earlier this year and things could not have worked out better for me... so thank you Chevron for that bonus check, one years severance pay. I'm typing this post with a 21-year scotch whiskey in hand. I wish everyone the best of luck.
