Kirkland was a savvy man to leave before everything fall on the big boys. He was not going to leave the company halfway going thru this shit so it was best for his image to do it before.

Our issue is project execution. The overall strategy of shifting our portfolio away from being oil-heavy was the right one. We just couldn't execute it, which is typical for Chevron. We are good at ideas and making PowerPointa but can't "do".

Yep. He could just as well have been fired. He was always very proud of Gorgon, and how we were beating the crap out of Exxon on street measures like ROCE.
