Thread regarding Follett layoffs

I'm still here

I'm still here with Follett and while things appear to be better they are not. This Neebo acquisition just proves corporate's lack of ability to roll anything out right. The communication has been extremely poor and from what I hear there are no plans to improve. Corporate is using and abusing Follett people in this transition. And to top it off, no one can answer simple questions about anything. I promise you, this fall will not be better.

"leaving books in the stores and not returning them"

How is that working out? Wasn't there a panicked memo to get returns out the door?

If you haven't noticed, the new leadership share that same trait. They do lots of criticizing of Follett processes and talk about "new" processes but nothing is done. They just fade away as if they never said them. Name ONE accomplishment of new leadership except for the layoffs. Off campus stores, Dominican stores, shifting focus to eCommerce, lower physical footprint, leaving books in the stores and not returning them and the list goes on and on.

Should be interesting when GT gets rid of the ADC. That's a statement he made last year- doesn't know why we need ADC and it is not profitable. So how many layoffs will that take? And then what happens to the books?

OMS is yet another failure of DG and team. Books going back to ADC because OMS did not work and move the inventory around. Holding on to books for two semesters and now finally returning them, what a huge mistake.

Inventory manipulation. 500k books to be returned to ADC after the major sales period for fall is over. These titles are likely of little value. Transfer the write downs to wholesale so that the false improvement at FHEG is not reversed.

we've been told the returns for FHEG text to ADC will happen 'sometime next week' so that on a store level we can 'budget labor dollars appropriately.' We all learned about this Wednesday, and there is no bump in labor dollars. So two semesters worth of wholesale books to ship out in what they're thinking is three days time after being notified last minute. Neebo folks, you are not alone in thinking the only way is with the Benny Hill theme song playing.

We've been playing the Mission Impossible as it seems we will never make it through this.

Communication hasn't been that great. Neebo stores are given a "Follett buddy" who is often overworked and has a store to tend to of their own. Many NBC people are just showing up and riding the wave as it comes it. We find out we're doing things like inventory the day of or before inventory. Little direction is given outside of a pdf of instructions. Support can't keep up with the issues the new stores are having. The answer do your question is "good question" or "I'll have to follow up on that". Some stores have begun playing the Benny Hill theme song over their radio to boost morale.
