Ex Pats in ROM

have any of you gone through a ROM as an ex pat and been left standing in your current organization?

Yes one frac crew on set of rigs. That has been decided. The BU has very little legacy wells because, well, they can't drill or complete wells. So do you need 550 people for a frac crew? I floated that question on a conference call. My God it got silent. Do they think everyone is stupid?

I should say AMBU will have 1 frac crew and one fluid and one air rig. That is for the well plan agreed upon and will be implemented this fall.

AMBU has 2 frac crews and 2 rigs.

Well in the two ROM's completed no change in expats or contractors. AMBU terminated exactly 0! While eliminating 165 Chevron employees. Some contractors were let go in the following months but ZERO during the ROM.

Now AMBU will go through another ROM in the fall and then CBU will be up next. l do expect Chevron to either walk away from AMBU or NOJV it. They will again scale back CBU. The cost at Fox creek are so out of whack they are done. I called up there today (AMBU) and they are at one frac crew and one rig. They will put the money into Permian and Delaware plays.

But with laying off say 400 at AMBU late fall they are out. Everyone is cutting and no jobs to land in and no PDC. They are screwd.

Not sure if people see how bad this is going to be.

Contractors are still being hired for IT projects. Just look around.

Look at your headcount numbers, org charts, etc. Contractors and consultants are still here anf alive and well. Look at projects. MosMost will be let go but not all. Your manager is trytrying to make you feel good.

In reference to "Pretty Crappy", where did you hear or read that not all contractors at ETC were dumped? That's not what management told a contractor he let go. Manager said "all contractors" were being eliminated.

Well in ETC many of those expats are doing just fine! As long as they were willing to relocate to Houston we kept them. A few lucky ones got absorbed through the business units. the ones who quit did so on their own terms because they didn't want to leave the country they were working in. From what I've been privy to, expats are taken well care of while the rest of us are going to see at least a 25% headcount cut! Not to mention what expats make, have you seen the $? Oh and did I mention they're not dumping all etc contractors? Some of us will go before they do.

youre essentially on your own unless you're a high performer and they place you in a new assignment. They will buy you a ticket home though even if you can't find a job. That is always the threat of going the expat route regardless of a ROM. But it's worth it usually because you wouldn't have been sent overseas unless you were a decent performer in the first place.
