Thread regarding Follett layoffs

HR is posting fiction rather than doing their jobs

Glassdoor is a great resource when looking for work. employees post reviews of the work place. Often HR or management will post shill reviews, too. They're easy to spot because they're vague and glowing. Here's an example of a BS review posted by management or HR

“Hassle free shopping experience! ”

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Follett Higher Education Group full-time

Recommends

Positive Outlook

Approves of CEO

Pros

Great company with amazing values ! Truley beneficial

Cons

Salary base pay for a bachelors degree and managerial experience is low. Downside. Can be a lot of work hours! 30-60 a week. Depending.

Advice to Management

Increase base salary cap. With minimun wage increasing the past 2 years by a dollar each year and now yet again in January 2016 . You can expect that your managers won't be mad at that!

Look for yourselves, glassdoor.com It may help on your job search, too

Sadly, once upon a time, the values meant something. That hasn't been true for the past 4 years, however (perhaps longer). HR's job has been to keep the board and company executives from being sued and from going to jail. Things got so bad, HR attacked and lied about employees who were bringing legitimate issues to their attention. They were complicit if creating false paper trail. They were complicit in hurting long term employees. HR was at least passively neutral, in the past. Now they're harmful.

Maybe HR's job IS to post fiction. They sure don't ever tell the truth. The more I hear about the stupid "Follett values" the less I believe.
