Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Will there be atleast 60 days to look for other job with WARN notice? Or no grace period will be allowed with immediate layoff + severance pkg?

Sorry, never experienced a layoff before so curious to know how these layoffs are executed and how WARN notices are given.

Invested RSU's - absolutely not.

Unused vacation has to be paid as per state law

You don't get unvested RSUs, but they have to pay out unused vacation by law.

So 60 days plus 2 months + 2 weeks per year + owed vacation. Are they required to vest currently unvested options and RSUs? If so, sign me up!!!!

Almost 12 months of severance in my case. What a sweet deal. How do I go about getting laid off?

They could technically tell you that you will GTFO, effective tomorrow. But they have to pay you for at least 60 days from that date, by CA law.

You can also choose to leave before the GTFO date and they still pay you for the remaining time between when you leave and your GTFO date. However in either case your health insurance coverage expires on the last day of the month in which you leave

If there are 50 or more employees affected, they notify you and say that your GTFO date is 60 days later in order to comply with WARN. During these 60 days, you're still a "normal" employee, but are essentially advised to drop everything and focus on your GTFO planning. The severance package starts on your GTFO date. For the last layoff, people got 2mo + 2 wks/yr of service, starting from the GTFO date
