I saw Smyth after he got the news and the devastation on his face wasn't able to be hidden. It looked like betrayal. He seemed like a decent guy to, victim of numbers again. Nearly half his team was at a year or less and his numbers weren't altered just like Flem. That's the problem with strict numbers, they don't factor in the people.

It's shocking to me that you guys think Fleming would have made the cut ... I now know that you guys are blind and brain dead. Fleming usually came to work at 8am and stayed at work till 8pm. He was nice to everybody, and would give his shirt off his back for a fellow coworker. He is decent and kept to himself. He didn't f*** anybody on the mgmt team and was respectful to all. He came in and got his work done on time. If his reps needed help, he did everything in his power to help them out. If he needed to get on the phones he could have a meaningful conversation with a student without sounding like a car salesman. He is a good person, good employee who kept to himself and got things done.

Our leaders need to be backstabbers who will put a knife through their mothers heart to get what they want. Our leaders are assholes who fire half the team as soon as they get hired. Hey I have an idea, let's leave Fleming off the management list. Ya the guy who runs the campus when I'm gone and saved my job for 4 months. And they wonder why the ship has sunk? Seems like that man simply got stabbed right in the back. I was hoping to work for Matt too. Now who knows what puppet.
I think this shows more than ever that it's truly numbers that are dictating the decisions. Flem lost 3 people on that team over the past number of months. They weren't replaced, his numbers weren't adjusted, yet he was expected to his goals with the reduced work force. Anyone that thinks the rhetoric served to us by Gav in the layoff meeting about "Doing what's best for the students" is true can look to this as a black eye.
They can tell us all they want that the changes are about doing what's right for the students but at the end of the day this is for profit education and numbers dictate decisions. Focusing on the students over the long term would solve the problem but this company doesn't have that long term. The owners need to realize the heights the company once achieved will never happen again and deal with the downsizing to a point where they can be profitable. That should start with keeping the good people though and this is an example of not doing that.
Congratulations Hough and Kittle. Mistake #1. We are sure many more to follow.
