Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Monday

Monday = bloodbath. Numbers down. Executive Reaction - more cost cutting. Target #1 - employees and property. Layoffs and campus closure. Bankruptcy within 12 months. Good luck. If you have money saved, short APOL, there is no way in hell this brand can rebound. The Feds do not this model to survive, so it'll be phased out - pretty much any for profit will not exist in it's current form. Look at Corinthian, AI, ITT and a ton of other places - the game is over.

So why should this earnings call be different from any of the last 15 or so? Value down, make cuts, talk shit, pick up paycheck. New markets, blah blah, new initiatives, and more firehouse management. Investors will be unhappy with the stock price and there will be a burning fire churning in their guts. Management will try to piss down their throats to put the fire out. Then everyone will run around like ants on an ant hill except those who get laid off.

That seems like a stretch. Business is down so decisions have to be made. It's sad and disconcerting for all involved. All of these rumors are putting employees in a constant state of fear. I hope if there is another RIF it happens soon before people's heads explode.

@110586--they will survive when they finally pivot and operate as a not-for-profit. They will be entirely online by end of 2018, probably a lot sooner. These schools have always been diploma mills. I hope all the idiot managers and directors are shitcanned for their stupidity.
