Also they are consolidating the shale gas business. This was supposed to happen in Shittsburgh but that was a total failure. They planned a one-story, 44,250-square-foot building to house a Technological Excellence Center. A second phase of development called for a regional headquarters campus with a 374,000-square-foot multistory office building, a 123,000-square-foot commons building, and a parking garage. That of course is not happening and that BU is closing and moving to an NOJV. The shale center is now Midland for Chevron and when they announce AMBU will be toast and being shuttered they will move employees from Shittsburgh to take a job Houston employees won't.

You can make fun of the city but I'd rather have the management in the top floor of any one of its buildings over the top floor in San Ramon.
Don't overlook Midland. It's gotten better. The museum district is the best for the area, there is the yearly goat roping competition, the annual dually truck show, plenty of day trip options, like Notrees, they got a Cracker Barrel a few years back, then the whole Wall Street area, oh, and fried food so good you will wonder why you ever ate vegetables, the list is vitually endless.

If the new building construction goes anything like the 1400 elevator/escalator revamp, it should be complete by 2030, assuming the new building is all stairs of course. If it has a lift, tack on another 10.
They know a lot of people won't go. Precisely what they want.
We were told there will be no movement across cities. Houston employees will remain in Houston. Midland employees will remain in Midland. Things can change next year, of course. The building in question has been in a state of construction for over a year and predated the crash of oil prices.

Doubtful...they JUST moved all of them from Midand to Houston a couple years ago. They aren't gonna do that again. They'd have to pay relocation to everyone and we all know that isn't happening.
Midland doesn't have much to offer compared to Houston. Homes are in short supply, so costs are too high. Same thing with apartments. It's a boring place to live, compared to Houston. I'd prefer the BU to lay me off rather than be forced to go to Midland. That management idea is a BAD ONE.
